Poll question for right or left hand fishing
Exactly...the power arm is a terrible thing to waste (a no-brainer) If a casting reel that I really want is not available in a left-hand version (for right-handed anglers), they lost a customer. Roger What they said.....

rod weight
What brand??????? In "theory", lure rating is universal. If a rod is rated for X through Y sized lures, it SHOULD work well for them, no matter the brand. Comparing the Loomis number system to another makers M, MH, H system is not a direct comparison, but the lure rating SHOULD be. A 1/4-5/8oz rated rod should work well for what you want. Some brands it could be a ML, others it could be a M, yet others would call it a 3 power. It all depends on the brand.

Quantity vs. Quality

Hmmmm......rod for Chronarch 51 Mg?
IMO, with a list like that, your missing a 3/4-1oz crankbait rod. If you don't feel you can justify using cranks that much, then by all means, get another worm rod. It seems like that is all you fish. ;D

Hmmmm......rod for Chronarch 51 Mg?
I've thought about an IMX or MossyBack but I have heard some conflicting reports on these . Now, I am going to repeat something that does not necessarily reflect my opinion, it's just what I have been told. Twice I have been told that G Loomis rods are......how do I say this, brittle. That they can break fairly easily :-X. This concerns me just a bit when paying that much $. I have also heard that their return policy isn't as good as it use to be due to people abusing it. Again, this does not necessarily reflect my opinion; it's just what I have been told. What is your opinion? BS? Maybe, I should look into a crankbait stick first? Or maybe the Teaser? Maybe both?.............DOWN BAIT MONKEY, DOWN!!!! A properly used and taken care of Loomis rod will never break (well, at least without many, many, many hours of use). A defective rod can, but that is covered under their lifetime warrantee. Their warrantee program has not changed, but I can see them starting to track people who have a lot of "defective" rods. I don't think a maker can or should be judged by the fact they cover or don't cover, under warrantee, owner abuse/mishaps. I, for one, hope to never have to use their warrantee. I take precautions in order to avoid having to use it. I look at it the same as auto and home insurance, it's a great piece of mind having it, but I hope to never use it.

Quantity vs. Quality
The best "value" in fishing is the middle priced lures...to a point. Rapala, Heddon, Aborgast, Mann's.... Lucky Crafts are fine lures, but so are their price tags. Same with worms. I've been on a few "hot bites" with Senko's, but it cost quite a bit of pocket change going through all those Senko's. I've caught enough Bass on Powerbait and Culprits to know they are a good value. The Roboworms and *** worms look like they are a good value too.

new spinnerbait set up question
Now that's an interesting perspective on spinnerbaits. I can count on one hand how many times I've casted a spinnerbait in the last 15 years. I tried them a lot many years ago, with very little success. I think I'm going to try throwing them with my new crankbait rod and see what happens. I still have them after all this time, and some of the skirts are still good.

Daddy like...daddy like a lot!!
ROTFLMAO!!!!!!!!! Leave it to Shimano to come out with a $350 Bluegill fishing reel. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Shimano Stradic FI
Yes they do.....BUT... it's just leader line. It's called Yo-Zuri HD Carbon. Here is the "sales pitch" from their website.... "Yo-Zuri HD Carbon has incredible abrasion resistance, ultimate invisibility, higher sensitivity, superior knot strength, and is a softer, more supple material than other brands. This extraordinary new fluorocarbon leader is available now at your local retailers in Disappearing Pink and Clear, #8 - #200 lb test in 30yd leader coils. Don't settle for anything less than quality, chose Yo-Zuri." The thing about Yo-Zuri is, it's already a nylon-floro blend, so there really is no point in them making a pure floro line.

Need Help Picking Out A New Reel
TD-Tierra The new Pflueger Asaro might be the ticket too. It's in the same catagory as the Sol, not sure how good the brake is though, haven't used Pflueger Baitcasters much.

BPS 5 for 5 free shipping
???? Standard minimum shipping charge is $4.95. When you look at your cart, it shows the purchase total, then shipping charges, then the bill total. I don't know what the exact scale is, but the more you spend, the higher the shipping charge, until you reach $12.95 in charges. From there, it remains $12.95 shipping, unless there are other charges like $6 for longer rods, or truck charges for heavy items, ect.... Those are seperate charges though, if you bought a $30 7 foot rod, it would have the $6 charge just like a $200 rod. With this lure special, all you have to do is buy the $5 worth of lures, and your whole basic order is shipped free. I'm sure they still tack on the charges for oversized items and over weight items. WHATS YOUR POINT HERE?> When I buy and sell on the Flea Market and tubes longer than 5'8" are used they all charge extra ( From 4bucks postal to 5. and change to ups) why should it make a differenc what the rod costsa, when the vwendor is being charged shipping. So lets see i need 22 bucks worth of stuff and do not wnat to pay .495 in shipping so I spend a gallon iof gas bak and forth to the local store Six Bucks , plus sales tax lets say another .60 cents WOW thats good ecnomics I will spend 1.60 more because I dont want to get OVERCHARGED FOR SHIPPING My point is....He asked about the shipping charges, I tried to explain them. I understand it's standard for retail stores to add on the $6 charge, but believe it or not, none of the 4 rods I bought over the 'Net had the added charge, they were included in the cost of the rod (different store). This also included a 15-20% discount on MSRP. Big time retail giants like Cabela's and BPS didn't get to be big out of luck, they know how to attract people with sales and "gimmicks". Part of the attraction of being a discount store is the fact you are able to set your own rules, and you can do things to undercut the big chain stores.

Why the Negativity?
Two things... 1) It doesn't matter if you or I think they look great, it's what the fish think of them. 2) The placement of the eye (for tying the line on) doesn't look quite right to me. Looks more like a 'trap then a swimbait type bait.

New rod suggestions
Unless you need to/want to use the rod right now, I would at least shop for another couple weeks. The "spring sales" are just starting to get into gear. When it comes to things like sales on in stock items, then it's best to wait until the last minute to see if they go on sale before you need it. Nothing worse than buying something, have it sit on the shelf for weeks waiting to get used, then the item goes on sale somewhere. Some sales, like clearance or discontinued items, you have to buy when the price is right, but for normal stock, I would wait for the stores to attract you with sale prices.

New rod suggestions
I've read a lot of mixed reveiws on that line of rods... I would start with Muddy's list. If I was in the market, for what you are, I think I would really look over the Team Allstar rods. TAS 725C looks good. http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=SEARCH-cat20372-cat20372&id=0037326120915a&navCount=2&podId=0037326&parentId=cat20372&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20372&hasJS=true or...GC602 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=SEARCH-cat20372-cat20372&id=0052329122472a&navCount=2&podId=0052329&parentId=cat20372&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20372&hasJS=true or...LFC-5-16 http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=SEARCH-cat20372-cat20372&id=0018282114172a&navCount=2&podId=0018282&parentId=cat20372&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IH&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20372&hasJS=true or...HMXT60M http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/product/standard-item.jsp?_DARGS=/cabelas/en/common/catalog/item-link.jsp_A&_DAV=SEARCH-cat20372-cat20372&id=0030198118189a&navCount=2&podId=0030198&parentId=cat20372&masterpathid=&navAction=push&catalogCode=IJ&rid=&parentType=index&indexId=cat20372&hasJS=true or...????

Good Jig rod?
Well, I'm going to toss out my OPINION anyway's. If you do "a lot" of jig fishing, I wouldn't skimp on the rod. Deals on rods like the Loomis MBR844 or 5 can be found. You can have something made for you too. The BCr 855 rod would be another choice. It all depends on how you define "a lot". To me, the rods you use the most, should be your best rods. Even more so, when it comes to certain types of fishing like worms and jigs.

Hell has frozen over
Since I am new to the board I don't get it????? What size did you get and what are you putting it on? I can answer the reel size question. It's an 8030. While no pictures clearly show the model number, the spool capacity gives it away.

Trilene Maxx
My OPINION is, don't even consider it for spinning gear. I am thinking about giving is another try on my crankbait rod this summer, but it will never go on another spinning rod. I found it too thick, and too unmanageable for spinning reels. I didn't even get to test it enough to see how it actually performs in the water.

BPS 5 for 5 free shipping
If you plan on ordering from BPS, then it's a great deal. Their base shipping charge is $4.95. If you order more than about $20 then they are starting to save you money. Could alway's donate the lure to the Salvation army, or Goodwill, then you would get a nice tax write off too boot.

fishing line question
Limp mono for bobbers, mono or floro for casting. Right now I am using 4lb Stren for most of my pan fishing. I have used 2lb for some bluegill jigging before. I got a big spool cheap, that is why I use so much Stren 4 lb. When they clear out hard water fishing stuff, I will be picking up some more 2 lb for the Bluegills.

When buying equipment/tackle online, what store or site do you use?
For the most part, I can't afford shipping when buying online. Some of these "retail" stores really stick it to you when it comes to shipping. I was going to place an order with BPS, but the shipping was 26% of the cost of the order. I bet the total order, including packaging, would have been less than a pound. I just wish I could find trailer keepers at tackle warehouse.
