@N Florida Mike with ice on the lakes for the foreseeable future - your consistent catches are mana for the soul!

So happy that you get to fish with your boy again. It’s truly the best.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

He is a very good saltwater fisherman, to the point of almost being a captain /guide before his boat broke down beyond repair…We will be posting some saltwater fishing pics soon.- that’s his favorite .

He’s going to Rodman this weekend though, to catch whatever he can.

Temps and wind finally cooperated enough for me to decide to get out yesterday. Of course the wind blew harder than expected and it never felt even close to the 40* they forecasted, in fact, I was as cold as I’ve been on the water in a long time. With all the snow and extreme cold temps last week, the water temps were down about 10* from my previous trip, there was even some ice on parts of the lake, a pretty rare occurrence on the power plant lake. The fish really seemed to be biting soft and not getting the bait at first. I had several taps that just dropped it immediately or came off shortly after the hookset. I think I only ended up catching 7 fish, but 2 of them were bookends, a 19.25 4.50lb fish, and a 19” 4.75lb fish, both ate a Big TRD on a 1/16oz weedless Ned head.

Weather got up to almost 80* with water temps 54-56*. Bite hasn't broken open with the spring-like weather (for me at least), so hopefully after a series of colder storms come through the next couple weeks they'll be in the early prespawn and a lot more active.

Underspins are my main lure. There was a guy at Bass Resource who tried to convince me that underspins are inferior, but I keep using them.

Tough fishing this weekend. I got up really early to do some catfishing before the sun came up. Had some nice, big gizzard shad that I caught and froze on an earlier trip this winter. Scanned through a depression at the end of a feeding flat, big marks all over side scan. Fancast my 3 rods out and watched the sun come up from the yak. Them things never twitched, bobbled, wiggled, nothing. Oh well, I was right by my favorite long, underwater point, so I reeled them in and started fishing. I might have had one bite there but I think more likely I pulled my bait into a carp and it just ran with my line over it's back for a brief moment. Cut across to the rock banks where I caught most of my fish last week. Got a quick bite on a Ned, line broke on the hookset. Same exact place the same thing happened last week, must be something sharp in the water on that spot. Fished all down that bank and most of the next one before I finally caught a fish. On the water at 6, didn't put one in the boat until 9:45, not ideal. Fished to the end of that bank and turned around. All the way back down that bank and back to the first rock wall. Picked up a flatside, maybe I could force feed them. First cast, caught a dink, thought I cracked the code, only bite I got on it. They kept running up to a jerkbait on scope but then turning away, changing baits didn't change the results. Got down to the end of that bank where it changes to sand, all the sudden they were there again. They weren't giants, but I finally got about a dozen of them the last hour I had to fish, salvaged what was a pretty miserable day of fishing, minus the great weather. I was sweating by the end of the day, even dressing a lot lighter than normal.

Super Bowl Sunday bass. Launched my big boat and it was too cold to start . Fished on trolling motor a while til sun came out but I wasn’t patient enough and kept trying to start the motor , eventually draining the battery after the 4,000th attempt. Wouldn’t start with fully charged trolling battery either. Trolled back to the ramp and went home to fetch the canoe, it always fires up first crank 😂. Got the one bass

After 3 weeks, a crippling ice storm, 7” of snow and the coldest temps in years, I was able to launch and fish open water. Surface temps 41-44 deg., but managed to swing on a couple 😁 Minnow jiggling for both.

@Team9nine: Gosh, that's impressive in such cold water.

Caught a 5lb 10oz Largemouth in the picture, slow retrieving a white original bladed jig in about. These are my favorite bladed jigs, which are effective year-round if you know where to fish them. I fished a white one because I knew there were shad present, and white is just a good clearwater color anyway.

Very good for covering shallow water

Thought it would be tough, and it was. Post frontal, NW wind gusting to 20, and 43 deg water temps…but I avoided the skunk with this one on an A-rig.
