Scheels has the evergreen combat stick line for $130.
Evergreen's rods are made by Daiwa, and warrantee service is via Daiwa too.
Given the original price of $229, these are likely Tatula-Elite equivalent.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

Way nicer than a Tatula blank (which is a great blank). But $40 shipping is harsh.

Before the price increase in the Expride, I bought one from Scheel's last fall. There was no shipping surcharge at the time and it arrived as an unintentional 2 piece because of how it was packed. They were apologetic and said they would ship this one correctly and very quickly sent me another one, packaged the same way - which was 2 rectangular boxes taped together. That also had the tip snapped off by the time it arrived. They gladly would have kept doing that until I depleted every single Expride they had or one finally arrived without breaking - but I decided to spare them and just had them refund me. So my hope would be for a $20 surcharge they send it in a $1.40 shipping tube.

Made another DSG order for some shadow raps, rage craws, and a 3700 rapstack box. All the items were thrown into a large box, zero packing materials added, and then it was sent to my house. On of the jerkbaits came open and tore around the box a bit, but now major damage done. Still not bad for $66, but frustrating

Did you get free shipping with 66 dollar purchase?

It said free shipping, but still seems to have charged it now that I'm looking again.

Any spring/easter sales expected later this week or this weekend? I want to say TW normally does one. Need to pick up some terminal stuff and hoping to get it on sale.

Good one. Out of curiosity I checked to see if it works Even works on Megabass. It does. They even carry the P5 Destroyer now (5 models). Is that new? I know for the longest time the only Megabass rods they carried was the Levante. Looks like only $12 shipping (to WI), which isn't bad.

$1.40 shipping tube.

Not a chance in hell. A rod shipping tube is not a standard mail tube. The side walls are double or more thicker than a standard Uline tube. I couldn't even find a comparable product on uline.com. I'll reach out to my wholesale suppliers tomorrow but I bet an 8' rod tube with caps @ wholesale volume is at least 4$/tube.

But, the real killer and reason everyone hates shipping rods recently is the oversized package surcharges. UPS and FE used to be fairly lax about oversized items. Even items that were significantly larger than the stated max would be hauled all the time. If it was feasible, they'd charge you the max rate plus a $50 penalty and call it a day. The explosion of online shopping around COVID put an end to that. Too many people were trying to buy giant **** and drivers started to get hurt.

So, a few rounds of UPS contract negotiations back, the teamsters and big brown agreed to change the max dimensional inches from 165 to 130. They also increased the top tier oversized surcharge to $200 minimum per package.

Tl;dr: even with a $40 upcharge the retailers are likely spending more than that.

I’m sure you’re right. Never shipped one. I was being hyperbolic. My point is, Scheel’s took $600 in losses in damages because they didn’t use a tube and are now surcharging - somewhat selectively I may add, because the mega bass spinning rod didn’t surcharge for it.

USPS doesn’t have a surcharge for a rod tube less than 7’6”. Use them often.

Good Fishing

Need this in left at this price. Have you used this reel before ?

PSA (Public Service Announcement)

Pretty sure everyone except me knows this but Dicks is having the b3g3 on rapala and strike king and the only store that is close to me has little to no fishing so I thought I would order online. The b3g3 is about the best deal going when available and is even better if there is a store nearby so you do not have to qualify for free shipping. What I have learned though and this is the PSA bit, if you have items that are $8ea and you purchase six AND you purchase 6 other items that are $4ea you would think that you get three of the $8 free and then three of the $4 items free. But that is not how it works when you purchase both at the same time, if you combine those in the same purchase then it gives you the LOWEST price item as the free item so in the example it would make all of the $4 free.

This is not an issue when in the store since you can just purchase each group separately but that is not possible online. The only way I have been able to get it to work online is to chat with a rep and explain that you want to make two purchases and have shipping credited since the combination would qualify for free shipping. I have been able to do this and get the proper discount AND get free shipping when the combined total is high enough to qualify for free shipping.

Again probably everyone knows but when I was adding my lower value items my discount total that they show in the cart was getting smaller and I didn't understand why. But as Paul Harvey would say, now I know the rest of the story, good day! ;)

Flashback to me as a kid sitting in the tractor with my dad listening to the radio.

@bishoptf The stores all seem to handle these sales differently in person too. At my local DSG strike king/rapala/whatever brand is currently b3g3 will just ring up 50% off, doesn't matter if you buy 1 or 6.

There are some 6th sense baits that are b3g3 as well right now

Looks like their provoke series of jerkbaits and some of their creature/craw baits
