They came into the modules at work and sprayed down all the chairs, tables, phones, everything with disinfectant, really freaked the inmates out. I told them they were being intentionally infected as part of a test to find a cure ?

  • While Coronavirus may or may not be a threat, we have yet to see. The widespread panic is purely politically motivated.  The bird flu was going to wipe out the planet. Sars was going to wipe out

This may sound callous, but I think the reaction to the virus has been more dangerous than the virus.   If you are over 70, a heavy smoker or have existing health issues, then yes, this viru

Gas Prices here have plummeted to $1.86 gal.

Been close to 16 years or so since I can remember anything close to this one.

Too bad I don't want to actually go anywhere.

I’m sure gasoline is much cheaper than ethanol right now but the ethanol free gas still cost more.  :sad-012:

The irony. We are told to avoid large concentrations of people yet the Wally Worlds and grocery stores are packed aholes-elbows

I had to stop into the local Wally world (pharmacy) yesterday late afternoon to get some meds for my wife.

And it was packed.

With schools cancelled/closed here for 2 weeks, folks were stocking up on just bout everything.

Some were toting two carts - Loaded too.

But what impressed me was the attitude.

Most everyone was joking and smiling - it was hectic for sure, but most were at least being civil about it.

Of course this particular store does have a rather large beer, wine & 'spirits' section.

Which was seeing a ton of 'action'.

I had a lady snake my cart at Costco while i waded through humanity for some pistachios...polite society is falling apart!?

However she did have the decency to leave the things that were in the cart, so I guess there's hope.

Was there at 5:30 this morning. My Saturday routine is to go there at 6:30 for dry goods and pet food and then to the grocery store at 7:00 to beat the crowds. There were already 100 cars in the parking lot. As I got out of the truck, some guy is walking to his car with 2 carts full of Huggies. Go inside and the shelves were bare. No meat, slim pickings on produce, boxed and canned goods gone, laundry soap gone, no paper towels or TP, no garbage bags. The world has gone crazy. I'd hate to be working the Walmart returns desk in 2 weeks when the hype is gone and people start returning all the unneeded crap they bought. All I ended up buying is pet food. Ran to the grocery store. Same thing.

People act like it's going to be the Walking Dead or Road Warrior or the Purge later this week.

I sadly had to participate in the toilet paper panic, our septic system is pretty fussy and I’m not willing to risk it by trying to use anything “creative”.

My industry (event production) has almost completely shut down, all my fellow freelancers are idle and most of the full timers are just going through the motions as more and more clients are putting stuff on hold or canceling.  Election years are normally very lucrative, especially living in the DC area, so hopefully once all this is over things will pick up quickly.

One of my good friends works at a refinery here in Oklahoma. He told me that it costs them more to make gas with ethanol because they have to buy the ethanol and then the equipment it takes to refine it (or whatever they do to it) costs more to operate. Still don't understand why it costs so much more.

Toilet paper hoarding, is the one tihng about the corona virus panic that I have yet to understand.

Of all the things people need to survive a catastrophe,  why toilet paper?

I recall a few years back when there was a supposed ammo shortage and everyone was buying up all of the 22 long rifle ammo. It wasn`t long before it started showing up for sale online at ridiculous prices.

Waiting to see how long it takes before toilet paper starts selling online by the roll for ridiculous prices.

Price gouging laws are in effect currently in Kansas. Not sure how they judge what qualifies, but I guess at least it's there.

I've noticed a sudden spike in the local logging business.......hearing TP has a priority over test kits.

Anyone else really excited for the boating pressure at public lakes to be at an all time low? Please continue to stock up on toilet paper and stay home this summer. I'll finally break my PB! Hahahahaha

You kidding? With people cooped up at home and afraid to go anyplace with people, they're all going to be on the water where you don't meet anyone and can't catch anything from the fish. And... you can wash your hands whenever you want to.

Regarding the toilet paper.... No more Sears catalogs. But then again, only the yellow table of contents in the center was of much use. The rest was coated and like waxed paper. Still, it would be better than nothing... I think.?

And on another note: For those with septic tanks. Don't use paper towels. There are small baffles at the tank entrance that the towels will catch on and not dissolve. You'll be calling the poop truck if that happens.

As for me.. a new, replaced septic system a couple of months ago.... without TP like being all dressed up and nowhere to go...
