What is THE true secret to just enjoying wetting a line and hopefully catching a fish, vs spending beaucoup bucks on rigs and tackle, countless hours fretting over what esoteric color combination or inch length of lure may be THE one and generally ending up frustrated and disheartened because all you caught were 2 lb’ers.

4 or 5 2lbers would've been great yesterday

Mine is simple.    Why am I a dink magnet, and a brown bass repellent?

In the world of make believe, if you could receive the absolute truth to one specific question regarding your own bass fishing, what would it be?

 Now I can see this one going all over the map with quires like;

Where can I catch the next World Record bass ?

What bait will a bass eat every time they see it ?

When is the best time to fish for the big ones ?

Why do bass hate me ?

After quite a bit of deliberation, I would simply like to know where the biggest brown bass spend the summer in the larger lakes I fish,

because they are sure hard to find.

What say you ?

I ask this same question everytime I go to norris. I think the answer is suspended in the channel in 175 ft of water chasing alewives. Impossible to catch lol

You have lived through this? Tell us your story lol

I might have enough baits to last me another 10 years. Haven't bought much of anything in the last 3 years. In my defense, I always bought in bulk. I'd buy 50 or 100 jigs and matching trailers at one time. If one jerkbait is good, ten is better. When you do this year after year, you build up quite a collection. I have (4) 44qt totes and (4) 1 gallon ziplocks full of soft plastics that are in the boat. Maybe (20) 3700 boxes with hard baits as well. I could probably gain 5mph on my top end if I didn't carry around so much crap.

When will my kids move out so I will have some extra cash to buy a boat?

Will I be rewarded with more big bass this year by fishing a small well-known pond, or by exploring and experimenting at a (mostly) unfamiliar 50 acre lake?

What color senko is the best....?

The one tied on.

When that isn't working, it's time to change lures...not colors   ?

You can't imagine, the simple thrill of having company.

That secret lies inside your brain, my friend

im not going to call myself a big bass expert but a lot of replies seem like everyone thinks if you find a magic spot you catch the biggest fish automatically. Also the quote about being able to see underwater........ I can tie these together.........

I snorkel a lot and you will be very surprised how many big bass are always around and don’t bite lures. I also believe these fish swim around and don’t always eat at the same spot. How many times have you personally or your friends set up in the perfect spot to kill a monster buck and the thing was somewhere else? Veeeeerry very sneaky....... I can fish a place for hours and catch nothing, jump in with snorkel and see big bass just staring back at me. Since I can’t shoot them with a rifle like a monster bucks, I just enjoy the swim. In the world of fish and game, the most targeted creatures are the most wary. They respond to the pressure applied to them and adapt. A good example, coyotes...........

to @A-Jays question, I vote suspended, like @Jermination. Probably because we fish the same waters

Which of the 1000 or so back lakes that require bushwhacking/canoe within 5 hours of my house contains unreal fishing?

I've found one. I'd like to find more.

Only way is the hard way.

I often use a senko as a last resort, I figure if I can't catch a fish on a senko I am packing up and trying it again another day.

When will Ajay invite me up to spend a weekend with him when those big ol brownies are shallow in the spring? Or maybe when could I scrape enuff cash to fly out to Cali and fish with Tom for a week? Maybe spend a month south of the border to organize Rauls tackle shed. Or possibly see a stupid Lions game with Slonzep at Soldier field so I can boo the lions to my hearts content ( it's like i'm hangin' with al bundy!) Or visit / learn tacklemaking with Allen. The list goes on, but it's not about the fishes.

Well, if you ever tire of fishing you can always open a tackle shop lol.

You serious? To quit buying lures is the easiest thing in the world.

I've probably done it a hundred times  :joker:
