Cool promo but I don’t see anything really innovative or even new except maybe the new SV spool which is just an improvement on existing design.  I got a chuckle out of the mag gears with big teeth wi

That's the most dramatic promo I've even seen.

Daiwa spent some serious coin on that promo.

Looks like a Tag Heuer commercial, very cool though.  I think it will sell well next year.  Also, nice to see something new besides a Tatula.

Few people have them already. Initial reviews are very positive. I missed the first round for the one I want. Waiting for them to come back in stock overseas to get mine.

They had me at "HYPER ARMED HOUSING".

Looks sexy. I'm curious as to why they used a left handed reel for their demonstration.

yeah your Shimano has X-ship bearings

.... but are dey hyper tho?

seriously though, why is everything now hyper? was someone playing Street Fighter II when they named stuff?

Because normal people used a left handled reel ☺

Question about the booster sv spool. In the promo videos there's a good amount on focus on casting distance. If you were buying sv reels to skip as thier primary focus do you think this new booster spool may be less stable at skipping?

They didn't answer the real burning question, is the new spool compatible with older reels that take 34mm spools?  I don't need any/many more reels, but I would love a few of those spools.

Also, I have been blowing smoke at and talking dramatically to my reels for years now, good to see I was on the right track.

They want you to think a fishing reel is a space shuttle level endeavor.

At this point what is really left to improve on a casting reel, other the the brakes/spool?   I fish a TDZ alongside a Steez TWSV/A and other then the ergonomics, they fish about the same with the same spool in them.

I should clarify..I was answering for the new steez and zillion. I have no idea about the new alphas spool but I think i read is either 32 or 33mm...there's a video somewhere of a guy swapping the new steez LTD in to a steez SVTW and then a fairly detailed overview/review of the zillion and it's spool /w spec comparisons /w the current. He said there's the same dimensions and can be used as previous 34mm. The new sVboost zillion spool, however, is a whopping 13.4g /w bearing....I haven't seen the weight of the new steez spool but i've only seen a couple people recieve them.

On another forum a member says the new steez Ltd spool weighs 13 grams vs the 13.4 gram zillion spool. Is a 13.4 gram spool heavy?

Ok it played this time. I guess Shimano and Diawa have completely different gear philosophy. I like the way they make the magnets act like a centrifugal brake.

The bearing isn't part of the rotational mass of the spool. Without the bearing those spools come in at a shade under or over 12 grams. They're acceptably light spools for non BFS reels that are expected to be used with much heavier than BFS lures and line to match.
