I asked this same question a number of years ago and am curious how members will answer it now.  There have been a lot of quality, mid-priced reels that have been introduced since then.

What is/are your work horse reel(s)?  I'm talking the ones that get a workout almost every time you hit the water. Mine are my two Daiwa Fuegos. Between mid-size to large crankbaits and spinnerbaits, they are both on my deck and get used the majority of time I'm on the water. I end up doing a mid-season tear down, clean and lube on them because of the amount of use they get.

Mid-priced is a vague term.  Perhaps you might cite a price range.  Compared to the newest 2021 Daiwa Steez 70 CT SV TW, you might consider the top-of-the-line Lew's casting reels to be "mid-priced."

Lews tourney pro these days, shimano curado was my previous work horse. Both are sub $200 reels and work great.

Shimano SLX for me.  Got one for jigs, one for jerkbaits and crankbaits, and one form flipping and big swimbaits.

My Diawa Tatula's, both in the 200 and 300 models. 200's toss everything from a frog to 6" swimbaits. 300 is for the larger swimbaits.

Abu Garcia SilverMax for me.

 

I have three with three different setups.  This one in my "general bass fishing" rig...with 15lb sufix ProMix.

Mid price work horse for me is Shimano Curado DC

My only "mid-priced" casting reel is the SLX DC that I use for throwing lipless cranks on a Fury 705CB. It gets a workout on 99% of my trips. Otherwise I rotate between a handful of standard SLXs and a couple of Quantum Smoke S3 PT Inshores for spinning.

Heck yes. These are refined Clydesdales, lol. I will never give away my greenie, even if it’s a lefty, lol. 

I agree with @Catt about the Lews Tournament MB/MP reels. The old Shimano Curado 200 Bs were great reels. I still have some of them and some old Shimano Citica Ds that are still as smooth as the day I got them.

Shimano Curados and Chronarchs > any of them. 

 

My favorite of the ones I have owned over the years and I still have it, is the Chronarch 51e.  I takes beating when I kayak fish and it just keeps going.  The Curado 201 SF would be a close second. 

Diawa coastal 200 goes with me everywhere, fresh or salt.  Tatula CT.  is used every time out on fresh water.

Another vote for Curado (any).
