Made some 2.75" tubes and heads in these colors today. I understand that nobody will see the jigheads, but I don't like touching bare lead.

A couple of my jigs I’ve made. Just starting out tying  my own. Thread tying is tedious but a lot of fun. And they both have caught fish each outing.

I’m calling this one “all you need” few of the classic jig colors put together.

@A-Jay gave me an idea (based on the spinner jig photo, page 39)....

Instead of inline, I did this....  What do you think?
(edit: the reason for the price, was, a buddy was always asking how much it costs to make a lure instead buying one at Cabela's, Bass Pro, Academy, etc...)

It has changed ownership.  LPO didn’t take care of it.  They sold it.  The new owner has cleaned it up and he is running it similar to the way David did when he owned it.  Give it a look.

How did you attach the hook to the spinner? Same split ring or upgrade? I might do this to some of my 0 and 1 size vibrax lures as a more finnese spinner

Been a while but I think I used a #3 Owner Hyper wire split ring in black.

This bait has been a pike magnet, especially early and late season.

Good Luck

Latest one I tied up. I’m actually really happy with this one.

Local sportsman's warehouse finally had an affordable fly tying kit for sale, so I picked one up along with some material to try my hand at tying some jigs for river fishing.  i decided to through caution to the wind and just tried to see what i could come up with and im kinda proud for my first jig (fly?) with little to no instructions. Its on a 1/4oz gama ball head jig and i chose oranges and browns to try and mimic the craw colors that have bin working here recently. I got 1/4pz to practice since i dont use them often and a pack of 1/8oz for when i get better at tying. Planning on getting actuall jig material soon to try and make regular jigs in the future. Any recommendations as far as patterns or material is appreciated!20250822_114813.jpg.0c698cf9a32be9fe85f37396c63a219b.jpg20250822_114729.jpg.5a4fa2159301ed916e5fb1b5ee064a57.jpg

Would making the tubes in a slightly clearer (opaque?) Plastic make the head more visible? Also would a white tube head change the color of the tube, kind of like a laminate or layered color bait?

If the plastic were clear then maybe you'd see the head. I don't really care about the color-I don't like handling lead and I use a different color for different weight heads. The black head is heavier than the green one, but at a glance they look similar when unpainted. It helps me choose the right one more than anything.

Found some legging material used for flys, figured id try it to make an actual jig. Planning on picking up actuall skirting material now.

I’ve started tinkering with some custom painting. I figure if I can’t get the colors I want, I’ll do it myself. Not too crazy about the Amazon blanks I bought, but they’ve been good practice pieces.

Finally got around to making a master mold of this Shooting star head. Weighs 3/16oz, 2/0 hook, and takes a small weedguard of 7-9 strands. Going to try this for finesse and bear hair jigs.

These are some of my homemade dice lures. These were made with the pink mold, next batch I will be using the blue mold which has a slightly larger footprint and has a taper to it.

Pretty sweet Ike. You saved like $1000 over the jdm guys.

I think I may have invested about 60 bucks for everything I needed to get started. Made about 20 plus of them. Also I add the the skirts material to all my plastics.

Little single willow bfs spinnerbait, 1/8th with a small hook and a fine cut skirt. Can’t wait to throw this in the spring, our little smallies should love it!

Just an update using the smaller mold and one pack of the Fusion C Cubes. I was able to get 20 cubes per pour. To date I have poured between 60-70 cubes.

Fiddling around with some color shift while making some smallmouth grubs.

I would trim some of the skirt so it doesn't interfere with the action of the trailer.

I did end up trimming it. I liked it longer but didn’t want to use a longer trailer lol
