What rod, reel and line do you throw your shaky heads on? Currently I'm using an old KVD quantum spinning 7'3" medium fast with a 30 size pflueger President...15lb power pro to 8lb trilene XL leader.

I have 2 one is a 7'6" All Pro that I bought down at the Ark Rod factory a few years ago.

The other one is a 7'6" custom rod that I had built to complement the All Pro.  I have Shimano X70 8:1 reels mounted on both of them and 12# fluorocarbon line.

Longer Rod for keeping a distance from fish

7’6’ Millerods BassFreak, Daiwa Legalis 3000, 10lb braid, 8lb flouro leader.

Shorter Rod for target fishing

Waiting on the new Expride B 7 M, I’ll put an old 2500 Stradic on it. same line type, might bump up the leader size if I’m pitching into thick stuff, or go copoly.

I used to throw a St. Croix Avid 7’ M. It was pretty stinking nice too. I’m sure there’s an equivalent Victory model to that available.

Megabass Levante Shakeyhead, Daiwa Fuego 2500, 10-15lb hi-vis Daiwa J-Braid 8x with a leader of two wingspans of 7-10lb sunline sniper FC.

Heavy enough that I can toss it into laydowns, light enough that I could dropshot on it if I needed to. Great rod.

Currently using NRX+ 872S and Pflueger Patriarch XT 35 reel with Sunline Asegai 12# braid to a sunline sniper 8# leader.

Spinning open water sparse weeds

7’ m/f daiwa kage, tatula 3000

10# ygk soul braid, 8# sniper leader

Baitcast docks laydowns pitching

7’ m/f st croix avid x, curado 71 mgl

8# cxx (12# diameter/strength)

St Croix Victory 7'1 Med/Fast w/ Daiwa Fuego 2500 LT Spinning

I’ve switched almost completely over to mono leaders on everything (spinning) for the past two years. On the waters I fish, and the cover and conditions, there is basically no advantage to using fluoro - actually a slight advantage to mono for me. Literally down to just ‘one-off’ circumstances at this point for fluoro leader use.

Preferred mono for leaders? I started doing braid to leader last year and used 8lb Trilene XL with good success.

I use either Stren or some old BPS Excel I still have around. Key off of diameter, not line rating. I’d generally be one step above where you’re at based on that.

Like a lot of you I suppose, I've been using jigheads long before they became 'shakeyheads'.  What rod I use depends on the weight of the head, but most often it is my 803 nrx/og daiwa ballistic combo spooled with 8lb fluoro.  I'm going to try some straight braid this year on my 852.

Just got a new NRX + 822syr. I put a Stradic 2500 with 20lb Smackdown and an 8 lb Gold leader. Been trying it out in my pond and 1/15 oz Z Man Ned rig is working well and will easily go heavier. Really sensitive rod total weight of this set up is 11.7 oz

spiderman baitcaster with integrated reel. I use the line that came with the combo.

i don't throw a shaky head often, but when i do it's on my all purpose 7' tatula medium spinning rod paired with a fuego 3000 - 15lb braid to an 8 pound fluoro leader

St. Croix LTB 6' 10" M/F

Daiwa Tatula 3000DCXH

8lb Tatsu

Shimano Crucial 7' MF with a Stradic 2500 spooled with 20lb 832

Don't throw it nearly as often as I should

Have a ton of Shakey heads but always end up Texas or wacky jig.

Gonna make it a point to throw them this year, especially speed craws and brush hogs.

Likely on a 6'10 med Lews custom for starters, maybe spinning or maybe casting. Idk

Definitely braid to leader though.

IMX-PRO 852S JWR with a Stradic FK spooled with 20lb 832 to an 8 or 10lb Sniper or InvizX leader. That setup also applies for wacky rigged Senkos and 1/0 Flashy Swimmers with 4" Easy Shiners.
