Hello from Pawleys Island, SC (ties to Charlotte, NC and Summerville, SC areas as well)

Featured Replies

Hey all! I'm new to the forum and am looking forward to getting started! I grew up fishing on Lake Ontario and am currently living in Pawleys Island, SC fishing on the Waccamaw River. I'll be relocating to the Fort Mill, SC area (most likely) at some point next year but have ties to Pawleys Island, SC, Charlotte, NC, and Summerville, SC due to family. None of my friends fish so this forum will be an awesome place for me.

I'm currently in the housing market so I'm waiting on getting a boat, but bass fishing is all I think about and want to do. I would be interested in meeting some local anglers and being a boater in any local tournaments (ideally Santee Cooper, Wylie / Norman, or the Waccamaw). None of my friends fish and my brother / father aren't as big into it as I am - the idea of meeting folks from the internet isn't my cup of tea, haha, but most people on here seem very normal and friendly. I would definitely like to network with some local anglers and learn from each other, and get out on the water to catch some pigs.

Looking forward to being on this site daily!

Thanks,

Connor

I know, right?! Unique situation where I have family in 3 different locations (CLT, PI, Summerville) but all of my friends live in the Charlotte area. Also no lakes here in PI. But I love it here and wish they'd put a lake in nearby haha. Thanks for the welcome!

If I had family in TN that'd be my number one destination. Just looking at the map there is so much water.

Welcome aboard.

I'm on Grover NC, ~40 miles west of Charlotte.  My daughter works in Fort Mill.  I never fish tournaments but you're welcome to tag along with me sometime.  I mostly fish Lake Wylie.  I see, and talk to a few of the local club guys at the landing occasionally.  I'll ask if any need a co angler next time I see them.

Awesome, thanks Woody. I will send a PM the next time I'm in Charlotte for a few weeks - would be great to tag along if you're planning on heading out on the water at any point that week. Will pitch in for gas of course. Thanks again!

Do you ever fish King Mountain Reservoir? I haven't seen too much about it online so am curious. Trying to decide exactly where I want to live in the area is difficult, especially not knowing too much about the lakes in the area. I know it's a bit more rural out West of CLT which is ideal.

Occasionally.  It gets overfished during the summer.  It's 1500 acres.  They have a tournament every Thursday night from March to October that usually has 30 or 40 boats in it.  The last several times I've been there all the bass I caught had previous hook holes in their mouths.

Yeah, it looks tiny on the map so that definitely makes sense. Thanks for the info!

Welcome.  I'm in Seneca, SC seasonally (snowbird) near/on Lake Keowee, but I have a son who lives in South Charleston and works on Kiawah Island.
