You ever rig up a jig with a trailer and think "oh man, that looks sexy"? Or pop a new crankbait that you just bought out of it's package and are taken aback by it's beautiful paintjob? Or maybe it's a custom bait you made or saw somewhere online that just made your jaw drop just a little?

 

I just love a good-looking bait. To me it's like fine art. I thought it would be kind of fun to have a thread for people to post their "creations", obscure gems etc. for others to admire and also maybe get ideas for themselves. 

 

I'll start with this company out of Gettysburgh, PA called HH Custom Baits. I just came across them tonight and these micro jigs/trailers really caught my eye. ?

 

 

And a few I put together.

 

1/2 oz Keitech Tungsten Football Jig with a 3" Damiki Air Craw.

 

 

3/8 oz Jackhammer with a Beast Coast Blade Runner.

 

 

 

Yeah it's a little creepy with me sometimes ?

 

The ones that get it are when I pair something together so that I feel "I made something".    Putting a Bhite Delite Jackhammer with a Missile Baits Green Pumpkin Delite was the most recent bait that wow'd me.   Before that it was Berkeley's Slobberknocker in Green Pumpkin Shad paired with Berkley 4" Power Stinger in TN Shad.   Oddly enough, one slays fish, the other was a dud.  

 

Then any bait outside of a T Rig that catches a big fish becomes "bait porn".  I'll just look at it at with love and affection.  

 

Another thing that is bait porn to me is when a bait matches the hatch really well.

 

Yes, I'm a strong consumer of bait porn, one might call it an addiction ?

 

A new 110jr+1 vs one that has caught 125+ fish including a 7.2 over winter, perhaps my favorite bait porn is when my hard lures are beat to death by fish

That's what I'm talking about! And I agree, hardbaits that are beat to heck are on a whole other level of beauty!

To me a huge part of Bass fishing is lures.....it's tricking these special critters on neat stuff that does it for me outside of those bigger fish that make you shake.

This guy lives like 15 minutes from me and I am familiar with most bait makers within 100 miles of me.

One of the more recent additions has been a few Lake Menderchuck specific flavored blade baits.

nope.  

 

i kinda think my tastes and the bass's taste vary wildly.  i like brunettes..and the bass seem to like red heads (lately).  not sure if the carpet needs to match the drapes. 

 

i thru a GP jig with a bright red trailer for practice about 500x this weekend and NADA.

I definitely don't think the trailer has to match to look good/get the bass' attention either.

 

I really like this combo. Green Pumpkin Chatterbait with a Crawdad color Kamikaze Craw.

 

This is a very common problem in fly tying for trout. The prettiest flies don’t fish well, drab dull nymphs are fish catching machines. Are you trying to catch fish or people? Are you the bait monkey or the tournament winner? 
 

my friend Tommy that camps with us in Alabama will usually catch 2-3 bass a week, he asks for suggestions. We give him a few, then he says “I like to throw green pumpkin, but the fish hate it” ?

Had a line break last summer, threw back to the same spot with another rod and hooked the same fish I just broke off on.. got my lure back! Sadly didn't snap a picture of it with both baits in it's mouth.

Ironically I have not heard of them. Looks like they were born and bred on the susky. 
 

I can’t say I personally have any bass stuff that looks good. I run super basic. I do however have/had some down right sexy musky baits. 

 

I think this is a great thread. I’m sure the bait monkey is going to be biting most of us after this.

The Whooper Plopper in general? 

 

I don't fish the 130 nearly as much as the other sizes. But a few years ago I was in northern WI fishing a gin clear lake with a buddy and he had a smallie come up and just annihilate one in 30' of water. That was one impressive fish.
