Hi! I bought last year polarized sunglasses (Costa Reefton) for bright sun high in the sky conditions (blue mirror) and I absolutely love them. In the last few weeks I went fishing on cloudy days but my polarized sunglasses are way too much for these conditions so I i'm thinking about getting Bajio sunglasses or costa but in a different lense color.

 

I mostly do bass fishing but sometimes walleye a bit. I like to search for structure in the water and I often do shore fishing in rivers. I would like a lense mostly for cloudy conditions and early morning conditions. 

 

When I went to my local fishing store the guy told me Green mirror was good or COPPER (from bajio). Do you have any recommendations? Which one would you choose?

I use green mirror.  Primarily because it works well in both sunshine and cloudy conditions.

Before I needed prescription polarized sunglasses, always went with amber lenses.

That's what I'd recommend for low light.

 

I now carry 2 pairs of polarized sunglasses for bright and cloudy.

 

I'm a fan of amber as well.

Mine are copper/amber

I used the Costa website.  Best color explanation for me. I ended up with green mirror and silver mirror.  I’m lake fishing.  Sight fishing in bright sunlight typically. 

Don't do mirror in low light, straight amber/copper or even a light green. But an actual green not some kinda off gray.

 

I'm giving those yellow lenses a try this year, they ain't the as seen on TV make your night time day time type a deals, but yellow lenses do help with those overcast days to highlight the contrast.

Bright conditions, I have a pair of 'over the glasses' gray mirror.

For cloudy, amber clip-ons...

 

Do you know how much Tri-focals cost? I can't afford prescription sunglasses....

Amber/copper no mirror, I wear these every day.

I wear progressive amber wrap arounds, they work great in all but the brightest sun. 1 in amber and 1 darker would be ideal but I’m not forking out for 2 pairs at these prices. A good thing about the amber is I can forget I have them on and see just fine indoors.

 

I don’t know if the polarized amber cut the glair off the water as well as darker polarized do as I’ve never compared them.

I have one pair and it's amber/copper tinted and it's got mirrors and I bought it at Walmart for 15$.

 

I get accused of having x ray vision by my friends I take fishing and I simply show them my cheap old Ike glasses.

 

I'd love to get a really nice pair of specs for low light and one for sun but man I break glasses like someone's paying me to do it.

I have a pair from Smith in the Guides Choice with the brown lenses. They have a pretty high contrast to them and are great for early morning and low light.

I dont even wear clip-ons anymore . The side glare was horrible. I wear transition lens and accept the fact I cant see in the water as well as others . They are making transition lens polarized now but they were terribly expensive.  The lab that does the lens for my local Wal_mart does'nt make those yet, so I'm holding out until they do.

I'm wearing polarized transition lenses now. My medicare paid for most of the cost. Clip ons didn't work well for me.

I have amber and gray...and I like both equally.  My challenge has been getting polarized readers that I love, and that last.  I have 2nd pair of Onos, which are great new, but neither lasted well.  Best I've had were cheapie from a pop-up store outside local BX several years ago.  $40 with lifetime guarantee.   Same stand showed up for several years.  I'd pay the $10 warranty fee each year and get new ones.  But that gal retired and now I'm shopping again.  I may try Shady Ray's next.  If anyone has experience with them, let me know.

Count me in the amber/copper brigade.  I started it when I was trout fishing WAY back in the day and it makes such a difference if you are around anything green on the bank.  Grey lenses cut glare and lower total light.  Amber/copper do both of those, but they change the color spectrum and around trees and bushes in particular it really highlights underwater.  Yellow polarized works great for low light but once the sun pops up I don't find them useful.

Same here in the Coasta and I also have a pair of Smiths I really like

My new glasses are Ray Bans with amber tint.  They're not actual fishing sunglasses, but darken in sunlight. Transition lenses don't get as dark as some sunglasses, but I pull my cap down a little and they work.            The best thing is I can see well to tie knots etc. They're very well made and good quality.

Would love to - but the Medicare Assistance Program through the State that I'm on restricts me on what I can get for glasses.

 

My optometrist has three trays of the frames I'm allowed to choose from...I don't get to 'browse' the whole store. I even had to 'fight' to get my poly-carbonate safety lenses.

I use cheap polarized amber lens glasses from Walmart. Had green mirror costas years ago but lost em. I honestly couldn’t really tell much of a difference between the costas and the $5 Walmart glasses

I guess I'm lucky. My wife and I both have a card that pays 500.00 for hearing, dental, or optical. My glasses were right at 500.00. I paid out of pocket for the tax. All the good glasses are expensive. These Ray Bans look like 1960. I've always wanted a pair. Now, I'm 65 and finally have some.

I LOVE my sunrise silver mirror Costa Del Mars.  They are amber and are outstanding in low light conditions- that is what they were designed for.  I have green mirror for bright sunlight and personally feel they are a little overrated and would not replace them if they were broken or lost.  But if I lost my sunrise silver glasses, I would be ordering another pair as soon as I could.

No prescription lenses, so I don't use them...just something to keep around.
