Your Current Bait Cast Reel for Frogs (Heavy Braid)?

Featured Replies

It stands to reason that for a bait cast reel for frogs using 50 lb. ~ 65 lb. heavy braid - you need a high-speed reel with a good drag that holds a good amount of braid for making longer casts (without spooling out) . *What's your current bait cast reel for frogs that meets the above requirements ?

Abu STX gen 4 in the 7.1:1 with 50 lb 832 braid.  It casts a mile, far further than you could set the hook reliably, and feels good in the hand.  Plenty of capacity.  At the retail price I wouldn't buy it (there are better values) but catch one on sale and its a great choice.  28 lb drag if you want to lock it down.

An old Bass Pro Johnny Morris Signature Series. I believe it's spooled with 50 lb. Berkley Professional Braid currently.

A Shimano Curado CU-201BSF with 50lb Power Pro braid to connect with the business end of things ?

Lews super duty wide spool super tuned with Hedgehog bearings. 65 lb  832 on a og tatula 7’4 frog rod. It’s ridiculous how far I can throw a hollow belly frog.

Cashion Frog extra heavy with 50lb and a Abu Revo rocket...
