  • Strange negative comments in this thread about fluorocarbon.  I think some of it comes from long-ago issues when fluorocarbon became popular for bass fishing.   Back then, fluorocarbon had high memory

If I was a pro and got free line, than changing it every time I over stress it would not be a problem, and it would be on almost all of my rods.

Like I said, one day I sing flouro carbon's praise and the next I say I will never use it again.  It has been a long time since I have had any problems, so I'm back on the FC wagon.

It does stretch, but because it is heavy and sinks, I believe I have more sensitivity especially on a simi slack line.  This may be my imagination, but if it is I don't mind paying the price to live in a fantasy world.

I’m not a pro anymore and don’t get free line or change it often either, never have.
I use it for everything but 3 presentations and won’t change because it’s never given me a real reason too and I’m talking years.

To me, the advantages more than outweigh the disadvantages compared to any other type of line.

(Mono isn’t even in the discussion)

All flouro will stretch, some more than others but the slack line sensitivity is one of it’s greatest selling point’s.

The key is using the highest quality line you can afford.

No headache for me.  If you buy a good quality line it doesn’t need line conditioner and always wet your knots when tying.

Thanks everyone!!! Swung into bass pro before work and got a spool of Seaguar invizx 12 pound gonna spool it up tonite

I've used Inviz X for roughly 20 years.  Spinning and Casting.  I've never treated it or done anything to it.  I use 6-15lb.

It's not a headache if you use quality line. Yes, its expensive, but imo worth it. I prefer Sunline Sniper.

No. I have tried it and swore off it. Doesn’t seem to affect my fish catching rate either.

Hated it until I purchased Tatsu.

I can understand, since you need a second mortgage to spool up any more than a handful of reels ….😜

Won’t lie. I looked it up after seeeing people recommend it and on other threads I searched. That about of this bank beaters budget lol. I’d probably bird beat it first cast and be seen having a fit on the bank like a child lol

InvizX is my go-to for FC - Tatsu is out of my price-range and haven't spooled up the Sniper I got yet.

Gotta use backing.  It cuts the cost.

Wait - some people are still not using backing? I get 3 'fills' from a 200yd spool of InvizX.

Honestly never though to with flouro. I always have with braid though

Not for me.  I tried fluoro and I couldn't tell any difference from fishing mono.

Flouro is worth it. I like Sniper but Invisx is ok too.  These options are not too unruly but mono is more manageable for sure.

I find it unimaginable that someone can’t feel the difference in nylon mono and fluorocarbon.
A braid to 6’ leader of flouro vs braid to 6’ leader mono on a spinning rod with 1/4oz drop shot rig is night and day.

It's worth it, but for me it was very dependent on the particular technique it's being used for. The only technique I swear by straight fluorocarbon for is the dropshot. I've tried fluoro with all manner of bottom contact and chuck and wind presentations and they all felt unnatural and unruly to me, but the way 10-12lb fluoro sits and feels in the water just works for me for dropshot and how I fish it, which is weedless rigging on casting gear.

That’s what I’m hoping for with finesse jigs

I kind of lost sight of my motives for buying fluoro.  At first, it was because it was invisible.  Then it was because it sank and cuts through the water better.  Now I find myself using my trusty Pline CXX mostly.

What head ache?

Needing line treatment mostly

I use 20lb flouro on my Jigging rod but my flipping stick which I throw a punch rig on I use 50lb braid.

I miss punching and flipping lol. When I lived I Florida I’d get my canoe out and use the trolling motor and just run the pads and car tails. Caught alot of fish that way

I’ve tried it , few different kinds, and for me it’s no better than mono. Just costs more. Braid for a few things and mono for me.
