What’s your favorite weight finesse jig?

Featured Replies

I’ve always loved a 3/16 or 5/16 sniper. And honestly never realy notice a difference in what I catch. Sure the rate of fall is different. I’ve been messing with some ball head finesse jigs now too. 1/4 and 5/16. Still don’t notice a difference in catches lol. So I’d probably say 5/16 in most the ponds and lakes I fish so what’s yours??

I like 1/8 and 3/16, I don’t think I own anything heavier.

Right now- 1/2oz paired with an attentoon-getting trailer 🌮.

Totally depends on the fishery. Also on the tactic being used, what fish you’re targeting and what equipment you’re using.

Mike - what color is that pictured? You make so many awesome colors, just want to know that one!!

Also, what about bait finesse. Do you have anything that falls “specifically in that category” ? Reason I say it like that is I know some companies are basically rebranding say a 1/8 oz crankbait as now a bfs crank.

That’s his sniper jig. It’s a 3/16 -5/16-7/16 finesse jig. probably my favorite honestly. I have a ton of them. I am enjoying playing with ball Head finesse jigs tho

Finesse to me is 3/16 and under.  I can use light weight setups for them.  5/16 and heavier get my regular jig setups.

Very nice! I’m trying to decide if I want to try some 1/4 ball heads or stick with my 5/16 ball heads.

There isn’t much difference.  My 3/16 is a 1/4 football with the keeper cut off because I use a little nasty 2/0 hook and the keeper takes up too much of the hook.

That jig in the pic is my version of the Jewell Pee Wee in basswhacker.

I’ve always felt the same way. I mean I know technically it is different but never changed how I fish it or the bites I get.

that’s a beautiful jig. I’ve never had any of the jewel to see one in person just in pictures

I used to buy them until I got tired of paying $3 and losing 4-6 per trip.  I still buy their skirts in some colors but mostly I just come up with something close that works and even buying a $.79 skirt I don’t have much over a dollar in them.

Gotta love that!

Thats Henderson Craw.   The jigs I would have that would be the best pics are the Dredge Dock Rocker 1/8, Mini Jigs, Mini Swims, Lil Mans, and Sniper would be in that area of BFS.

Raid Egu Dama Level and Cover. I throw from 2.7g up to 7.0g. My favorite trailers.... Great Lakes Finesse Snack Craw and Valley Hill Devil Shaker.

The smallest jig I use is 1/8. The small size really doesn't pick up that much vegetation, and it's easy to pop free when it does snag.

I do enjoy a 3/16 for that exact reason. Almost lays  on top of all the junk.

5/16.  Both are. Seiberts.  I can get these down to 20 feet with the right trailer.

Very nice. I do like the 5/16 and fish it often. I’m finding that I like a 66 strand jig finesse cut tho and cut it short

BSF is now crossing over to Finesse lures, no end to confusion!

Finesse is a presentation technique associated with light weight  line, ie; Don Iovino the father of Finesse bass fishing.

Sieberts Sniper jig has all the finesse jig design elements; Lion mane, compact size I would suggest living rubber added to the skirt.

Trailers; 2” to 2 1/2” single and double tail** soft plastic grubs, 4” worm cut* to twin tail about 2 1/2 inches long.

Keep the line down to 8 lb test and finesse the jig retrieve. Jig weight depends on water depth, current and line diameter to keep in touch with the jig.

* use a safety razor to split the worm tails, push down on the worm laying on a flat surface is easier then trying slice straight.

** Yamamoto 2 1/2” Hula grub and cut the spider collar off when using a Siebert Sniper jig. Save the spider collar, lots of uses.

1/8 oz. I fish that weight more than any other.

I like somewhere around 1/4oz for a small jig, usually

3/16 with a uv craw or small swimbait .

Keitech mono guard tungsten jigs with either 1.5 tabs of wire tied skirt material or a hyper spider.

I usually go with their 3/32 or 1/8 oz with a #1 or 1/0 hook. If skirted I'll use a missile baits ned bomb or a rage ned craw cut to size.
