  • I haven't lost an expensive lure, but I once broke an expensive rod trying to save a $3.00 lure.

  • Insane update. A guy got snagged in the same spot 3 days later, and pulled out my DEPS250 from the snag. Water levels dropped, and and he had waders, so he just pulled it out. Asked $15, and gave me b

Someone do a wellness check on our boy here.

I lost a $25ish dollar carolina rig once (between all components and time to tie... it was pretty deflating)

I've lost more than one bladed jig in the past.  The $15 versions.

From a pike bite off, of course.

Mega bass 110 jerk bait first cast. Went back to Rouges

Lost plenty of glide baits and Alabama rigs aka baits I don’t fish anymore lol

Just got home from losing my one and only Megabass Karachi, so thank you!

You actually made me feel better 👍

Took a brand new $75. cast net and tossed in the ocean first cast. Didn’t close the wrist strap!

Went back to buying bait………..

In the $20 range, surf casting big swim baits and such. More then once the lure flew a lot farther then the line, you generate a lot of torque winding up and tossing a 4 oz bait with a 12’ rod. Blues steal a lot too.

Don’t have any $$$ lures for freshwater.

You lost a $170 lure?!!  I've lost a lot of lures over the years, but nothing as expensive as that.

No lure retrieving gear?

I thought guys that fished lures that expensive had enough retrieval gear to raise the Titanic!

I lost a 3:16 Gizzard Glide that I paid $200 with on about the 5th cast. Nothing to do but retie at that point. It hurts. But you have to move on…

I don't feel your pain, but I sure feel for you. I can't imagine having a lure that cost that much.

Probably the most expensive lure was a Baby Bull Gill swimbait. I found it, but I don't normally buy lures that are $15. I still haven't replaced it.

I lost a Rapala floating minnow on a carolina rig... then another. One of them I found, the other I got a nice deal on with some other stuff.

I guess the most expensive I've purchased was a size 9 Shallow Shad rap - $12 from TW.

I've lost a couple 250's, and one of those times the next cast I lost a Gancraft 230. I set the swimbait rod down for the rest of that day...

Lost a $350 rod combo that I had only fished with for about 3 hours once.

The sad part is that i did have one. But the little guides on the lure retrieve through which you'd put your line through, were too small to go through my musky fluoro leader i had, so i couldn't use it, it was a colossal failure. I just bought this Daiwa lure retreiver, and didn't pay attention to the size of the guides it had. What a mistake.

My most expensive loss to date…

…but I now own a custom glide bait that I paid 2X the Bull Shad for, so I may set a new record some day 😅

I lost a 15$ tube lure in Massachusetts striper fishing.

The only problem was that it was attached to a St.Croix musky rod and an Ambassador 6500.

We were striper fishing and just picking away at em, I found a bunch and called my buddies on the radio to come over where I was.

When I called I just laid the rod down on my lap just hanging the tube in the water off the front of my kayak. I looked down and the rod and reel shot off my lap like a rocket, striper grabbed it right on top of the water.

I think I created a bunch of new ways of stringing expletives around.

I've lost a few Vision 110's.  $25 is about all I'll pay for a lure, and like other members have replaced Megabass with less expensive brands.

Like @Munkin,  I've lost a couple rigs overboard.  Each around $300.

It stung, but I got over it.

Lost one of these when it grazed the bottom on light line… doink and it was gone!
