I lost it all to the Bait Monkey years ago, and I'm at peace with my fate.

  • I haven't lost an expensive lure, but I once broke an expensive rod trying to save a $3.00 lure.

  • Insane update. A guy got snagged in the same spot 3 days later, and pulled out my DEPS250 from the snag. Water levels dropped, and and he had waders, so he just pulled it out. Asked $15, and gave me b

Lost my original vintage wooden Huddleston trout lure to a big stripe bass at lake Pyramid in the 90’s. The lure cost back in the early 90’s was $60, the hand carved lure by Ken Huddleston today is worth several $100, if you can find one to bid on.

About 4:30 into this video, I cast off a Donut Shad, into an off limits area on a nuclear power plant lake. I couldn’t even try to recover it.

I lost an Alabama rig on the third cast.  It keeps me awake at night.  It was ten years ago.

I don't buy really expensive lures so my 'most expensive' has to be the Rattlin' Rap that a pike bit off some years back.

Lost a $350 rod combo that I had only fished with for about 3 hours once.

I also did that brand new combo I went to set it down and somehow missed most of the deck and over it went .

20 dollar Jack Hammer not like after they came out. Most expensive bait I have bought to date. Would say I don't buy expensive baits but even what was once affordable baits are now 10$ or more.

lost my last 2 clown hudd 68s today, which isn't my most expensive loss but still stings a bit.

Seems like I lose a couple of Megabass 110 jerkbaits each year.  This past spring a friend kicked a $400 Loomis spinning rod of mine overboard with a $250 Daiwa reel attached.  The lake then proceeded to rise 30 feet.  I persisted, and found them when the water receded, 6 months later.  The reel could not be salvaged, but I restored the rod as good as new.

The most expensive thing I have lost is probably an A-rig.

I have also lost two Megabass Vision 110s in the course of 20+ years of fishing them. They are currently $25 but I remember when they were originally $30. That pales in comparison to the multitudes of crankbaits I have snagged on something.  And that doesn't even come close in dollars to all the jigs I have deposited in various lakes in 30+ years of fishing. Personal opinion,  jig fishing has become more expensive than fishing swimbaits, crankbaits and jerkbaits.

If it makes you feel better, I had a bass snap my St. Croix travel rod last week. Cost more than your lure. Felt like an idiot. I was horsing a big girl up onto a raised dock without a net and SNAP. Turns out five pounds of angry bass greatly exceeds the 3/4 oz the rod is rated for.

One trip to the river, only a couple hours, I lost $30 worth of crankbaits. My wife was fit to be tied. I make up for it by not losing any a few trips here and there I reckon.

I lost an A rig on the fourth cast.. I never tied another one on…

My Dad lost his favorite spinnerbait when the entire favorite rod and reel flew out of his hands on a cast..  lure, line, rod, and reel all gone in an instant… Boy was he mad..

Sorry.  I've only lost a Rat-L-Trap and some Texas rigs this year.

This year has been OK, knock on wood. Hung an SV3 on a stump first time out. Couple Teckel frogs lately. Nothing over $20.

I usually blow through Magdrafts in Spring. Keitech jigs postspawn.

I have a Duo 110 pencil that's been bit off three times. Swam for it twice.

Mr. Torpedo Fish (aka, Northern Pike) and his extended family have a nice collection of my lures from this year - mostly in the $15 - $18 range individually, but total about $170 - I have 4 inch long steel leaders on most of my rigs now, yet they still find creative ways to saw the line off - looks like 6 to 8 inch leaders are on the list to purchase this winter........ @Micro Module Police you've got this, get back on the water and haul in a PB !

Knock on wood I've never lost a hard swimbait. Still, casting of a Hudd or Citizen doesn't feel great lol. I think my worst day was casting off a Vision 110 and a Rerange on back to back casts.

I lost a Kerashi last week and last month lost a Pompador.

The Pampador floats but the line snapped on the cast and it orbited the moon and I lost it on re-entry. The wind kicked up and I could not see it floating in the waves. I probably spent an additional 10 bucks in gas searching for it, but never saw it again.😭

Every cast with a rerange is anxiety inducing with that snap! noise they make.

Are these worth getting? Wanted one in the 190 size since they came out, but barely hear anyone talk about them, so i assumed they're "nothing special".
