Winter 2025 ~ 2026

Finally some of this is now melting here, I was able to pick up some of the dog diamonds that have been frozen solid in the ice o

My leaders are now unfrozen too so the water is flowing out of the gutters, probably to cause a sheet of ice tomorrow morning.

They keep telling me it's going to end eventually. But I'm really concerned that my Qualude stash might not last that long. 🥴 A-Jay

@herder - I’m right on the border of where the snow really ramps up as you go north. A 10 minute drive south and most of the snow is just about gone and in some south facing slopes it is gone entirely. Here at the house is another story, but snowmelt was just flowing everywhere yesterday afternoon. This week will bust it up pretty good. The small streams that were completely iced a couple days ago are flowing ice free now. That will help melt the lakes out a bit too. My work week this week is going to be crazy and then I have to go to London next Monday. But after that I think it’s going to be go time. I just might be able to squeak in a February bass.

Mid-February and I can finally join a winter thread! Been so odd to have such a mild winter up to this point, so getting a couple feet should get the thoughts of I wish it would snow out of my head. 😆

We're starting to see temps above freezing around Boston. The Blue Jays are making a lot of noise and my cats are itching to get out.

I might take a drive to Cape Cod with my auger and check ice thickness. It's not here yet, but soon enough....

Down to a couple inches of slush here, with lows above freezing and highs around 60 for the next four days. Extended looks good to be fishing by mid March. Outboard gets serviced and a new water pump impeller installed tomorrow. Counting the days.......

I’ve said quite a few times, what a difference a couple hours makes. Well today was that again but with an added twist. We reached 61 for a high, but you drive 20 minutes NW of me which is still in the same county and their high was 49.

I was talking to my friend in Traverse City today telling him how nice it was out. We started with rain in the morning but cleared by 11 and the sun came out and the temps soared. He said it was cold and snowing. @A-Jay i even heard on the radio they closed the bridge due to blizzard like conditions. I’m guessing you weren’t rocking the beach attire today? 😎

Yea - today it was just nasty.

Cold, brisk NE wind and big, fat snow all morning.

We had an early doctor appointment at the VA which is pretty close, thankfully.

We went from 5 days of 50+ degrees to heavy rain early this morning to heavy wet snow this afternoon. The snow came just at the worst time too, around 2:30pm. The ride home from work was hellacious.

It's the snow cone heart attack style snow too. My snowblower can't really move it. Comes out like ketchup.

The north shore of Lake Superior received 20+ inches today.

Went out early this morning to blow some more snow and on the first pull, the cord broke. lol

(followed by a loud 4 letter swear word)

Had to shovel that concrete instead. #miserable

Its kinda funny when it happens to someone else. Not so much when it happens to you.

Sorta like getting sheared off by a northern pike while fishing.

After some welcome and unseasonably warm temps the past two days,

we are being reminded that it's still only February.

This is only supposed to be 2-4 inches of wet sloppiness.

My roof's looking primo either way.

We are starting with 35 and rain today and progressing into 32 and freezing rain saturday, followed up by a crescendo of 26 and 6-10" on sunday into monday.

Did I mention that I have an 830 AM flight monday?

Ended up with 21" at my elevation. Finally able to get off the property and now I'm really looking forward to 60* temps next week and getting back out on the water.

Rrrrgh. We still have 4-6” of slushy snow on the ground. And now we’re getting 12-14” Sunday night through mid morning Monday. Still have that morning flight…

Glenn- I’d take a mid winter freezer day on the water right now let alone a pre spawn day.

Had 8-12 left before last night that’s been here for at least a month, add a couple inches of slush covered ice over night and another 7 or so tomorrow night. 2 hrs to clear the driveway and paths this am, my rt shoulder is shot. Ya, I can’t wait for spring.

If I wanted this stuff I’d have moved to Buffalo.

@NorcalBassin: I'm always happy when California gets BIG snow. Maine hasn't had BIG snow this winter, but there is some on the ground with more coming, which we need as we've been in drought since last July. This was taken three minutes ago:

Only two more days of snow to go -

Then we get a 3 day break.

I'll need to get to the store for some supplies before the next one.

Ask me again why I drive a jacked-up truck.

Thanks to a few warm days and some heavy rains the night before last, the snow's gone and the lakes have some open water near the creeks. The main basins are slush covered. We have a few days of highs just above freezing then another warm up. Might get to fish next week. If not, it's looking good for the first week of March!!! I'm chomping at the bit!!!

Early spring rig fishin gives me my best shot at topping this beast.

I'm BEYOND itchin', and with another 18-24" of snow coming Monday, I'm starting to feel like @A-Jay ....
