That's a good point.  My comment is more of a reflection of a recent purchase by a fishing buddy that uses all loomis rods.  He broke whatever their $300 stick is and bought a conquest as a replacement.  He loves it and his reasoning was "it was the best" and the why was something like "well it costs so d**n much".  I thought about revealing my power level of the dark side jdm tackle but that might have been a downer.

Best to treat Loomis guys and Dobyns guys like mushrooms, it's the humane thing to do.

It's ok to say this because I have some loomis and dobyns friends.

*shots fired!*  Loomis and Dobyns guys are very diffetent groups.  Loomis is a proud company that would never outsource their rods from China.  You get breakage issues that way and ruin your reputation.  Megabass learned this.  Evergreen seems to be the new Megabass- good looking, expensive, true jdm, and heavy.  I do have a couple of p5's....couldn't resist trying out Megabass's first lightweight rod line for $300 and change.

I want to play. Not as high end as most though.

Lews Hyper mag will go on Dobyns champ extreme 746 when It gets here.

The OG Daiwas are going to replace a couple current reels, but I haven’t decided which ones yet. Probably the BPS Pro Qualifier and the Tatula that’s on the square bill rod.

Although I’m not in the market for a new rod the Daiwas are pretty dang nice for the money IMO. Also how do you like the tac 40 ? I’m intrigued by the handle design but no Academy near me to look them over.

The Arid-x are really great for the $50 or whatever they were. Well worth It. They have really good power which I needed for getting fish away from the docks.

I have yet to really fish the Tac 40. It feels nice though. I don’t fish spinning setups too often which is why I don’t have higher end for them. Had a berkley cherrywood before the tac 40 lol but It broke.

Once I get all my casting needs met I’ll probably get a Whipsnake or 702 and a Vanford.

Dobyns called me today and getting my replacement DX746 shipped. I’ll post up when it’s here.

Dropped the Herm rod off at the rod repair place today to get new Eva grips put on since those Winn grips are wore out. Funny story, we bought that rod for my son for Christmas 2020. The d**n cat chewed up the factory grips that were on It while It was hiding In the closet. I took the rod to the same repair guy and he recommended the Winn grips. Today when I brought It back to him for new grips, he tells me yeah, this is why I don’t recommend Winn grips. They wear out too fast.
lol

This is my new to me JDM Zillion 16 SV TW 9.1.  I gave it some green hedgehog studio knob caps to go with new bearings and cork RCS knobs.  Literally a dream reel to own and I'm so happy I pulled the trigger on it.

Thanks! I got it from this website  https://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp

It can get pricy really fast and some stuff is out of stock that I would like to own but overall it is worth it to me.

That looks fantastic.   I have the 5.5 and I love that reel.   It’s a joy to fish.   I use it more than my zillion g.  ??‍♂️

You haven’t see the video of Gary Dobyns lifting a gallon of Lucas oil with an Xtreme 746C?  He sets the jug on the rear deck of his Ranger and then lifts and lowers it back to the floor. Enjoy your rod.

New Glorious 7'4" XH showed up today.  It is listed as a 'regular' tapered 'swimbait rod (14-150g),  but seems more like a medium-fast taper with a good tip for 1/2oz TW on up. Going to try it out  before making a more permanent reel choice.
