    Rather poker than soccer!
  2. C'mon Glenn...say it...GO LIONS!!! Hopefully the First game tommorow will be a good one for a change. I think the Lions are 0-7, losing by an average of 23 points for the last 7 yrs. Not this year. I'm afraid the Lions have the best shot at ruining their perfect season. Happy Thanksgiving to all...(even pack fans)
  3. Glenn and Glades...i feel your pain....sorry.
  4. Steel leaders are ok if you fish big "pike" lures. When bass fishing, as thumb says, it softens the action a little and can overpower a smaller bait. I've caught hundreds of pike over the years on bass baits, losing maybe 10, and never use a steel leader. Livin' on the edge, with no net in the boat...Oh and i picked up a dt3flat this spring and it gets my vote...
  5. I love all those tests on bass being held in some type of tank, pool, or small pond.
  6. I go to another site on occasion (somewhat local), but hardly anyone participates, so theres not much that i can get out of it. At BR, you get alot of participation, from novice to "expert", which keeps it interesting as well as informative. And i like how the staff keeps it clean so that any fisherman, at any age, can enjoy their visit. I like the mods, (even you RW), and like it when they chime in. This is where i go to talk fishing with my buddies, even though we have never met. Some year i'll have to make it the annual trip, so please keep having it....
  7. The Raiders had to do something. Is Palmer the guy? Maybe. Two picks for a guy that will never play for you again is a great deal, especially when one is a first rounder.
  8. September, overcast, with 10 mph wind, air and water temp doesn't matter. 7.5'med./revo/12#mono, 1/2 0z. white skirt/gold willow 4,4.5 in 2-8' of water with scattered weeds. Of course it helps if the wind blows you down your favorite stretch...

    I'm happy that i wasn't "housecleaned".....
  10. Sorry deaknh03, somehow this got turned around somewhere. Yes, GO TIGERS! I don't like our chances, but they did it in '68 against the Cards.....hope is still hangin' around.
  11. Thanks stasher1, i use to love that song.
  12. Not on those windy days? You live in Chicago, and it's been windy just about every time i go out in the detroit area.
  13. You can't block for Barry Sanders. All you could do was stay in front of your guy and let barry pick his holes. And, lets not forget the lions lost 2 very talented offensive lineman. Andolsek, who got run over and killed while doing yard work, and the paralizing injury to (crap, i'm forgetting his name). A lions' home game has not been that loud since their only playoff victory against the cowboys in 91. It was awesome. C'mon redline, nobody will crush the lions. They may beat them, but no crush. Hairball's luck is about to run out....
  14. I couldn't believe it. He was 11/12,13/14 or whatever the first half. The Lions couldn't touch him. What does that second half say about the coach? Only 1 of his 3 int's were romo's fault, the other 2 were good defensive plays. One would think the coach could run some time off the clock, and score a td or 2 in the second half. The Cowboys problem extends far past romo. Americas team? The new DETROIT LIONS!!! I cannot wait for monday night. The house be rockin'!
  15. My trailer had to be replaced this year, so i ended up buying a new trailer that is really designed for a bigger boat than mine. I love it. Any dealer that sells trailers will help find one that fits your boat. They are adjustable. You might have a little difficulty finding one to fit an Avalanche. Good luck.
  16. Those hooks worked well for me, but i got tired of losing so many baits. So i changed to an ewg size 1 or 2, added a hitch-hiker (small) to the short "down" part of the hook and screw the worm on tight to the hook and rig tx. style. This works great. Very little adjusting is needed, and so far i've caught 7 on the same bait. Try it - you'll like it....
  17. I debated myself on if i should have posted this topic, not knowing what kind of responces, if any, i would get. Every comedian pokes fun at detroit burning itself down after championships, but they couldn't be further from the truth. The populus have behaved themselves with the (kind of)recent RedWing and Piston celebrations. The thread was really supposed to be about how well the Lions have been playing, but i uncleverly took a wild route.
  18. With the 1000's of abandoned and delapidated homes throughout the city with no or little funds to help tear down, i have the solution. The DETROIT LIONS. If they make it to the playoffs, we'll burn down a couple hundred or so. Make it to the championship game, and your talking at least a thou. IF THEY MAKE IT TO THE SUPERBOWL: We shall have a bunch of new parks with no more eyesores. A little help from the teams we play this year will be greatly appreciated. Thank You.
  19. Grandy is a great man and i miss him as a Tiger. Jackson shows some promise. JV and Fister both could pitch twice in a 7 game series...i like the Tiges chances no matter who they face. It looks like us Lions' fans can talk a little !@#$ too...
  20. I've been a fan of trilene xl for 40+ years, and i still use it . I have tried many different lines up until about 5 yrs. ago, but now i just stick to xl. This year 2 rods (dropshot, senko/fluke) have braid and those will stay braid. But the other 3 will have mono- 1000 yd. spools of 6,8,10# will last me the season of 5 line changes. Good line, good price. Am i missing out by not using a "premium" line? Maybe...but i'm ok with that.
  21. Tigers are kickin butt and they don't care what your name is, or where you are from. Bring on the post-season Yanks.....

You guys have it all wrong. Get a 1/4 oz. "casting" sinker and a split ring. Attach the weight to the split ring, then attach that split ring to the front (line-tie) split ring. This works perfect for openings in submergent weeds. Cast past the opening, start your retrieve BEFORE it hits the water, and retrieve fast, then kill it in the opening. The trick is finding out how long you have to let it sit on the bottom before you start hopping it back to you. Some days they will nail it on the fall, but most times after i let it sit for a minute or two. Although this tactic works best for the 3/8 oz. size, i have tried it with...sorry, but i told you too much already...and sometimes i'm just a jerk.
  23. Pricey for a popper.
