Englewood has been messed up for as long as I can remember. It was bad 30 years ago when I was peddling towels and work uniforms. 15 years ago I was running refrigeration at restaurants on the south side. Some scary sh!+ going on in the neighborhoods...business as usual. Division and Pulaski has cleaned up somewhat. I don't miss those neighborhoods one bit after working in them for years. I don't go into them willy nilly. I'm happy I now live in the burbs.

Dad grew up at Lincoln Lawrence and Western on the north side. Mom grew up in the Austin neighborhood on the west side. Dad's neighborhood is currently a melting pot and mom's neighborhood is one of the highest crime neighborhoods in Chicago. Dad's a stubborn bas+@rd. Dad's talking about getting his ccw. I'm for it, but my sister is not. His arthritis is bad and he can't pull a slide on a pistol. I told him to just get a small revolver and brought over a LCR in 38 special for him to look at. Dad currently lives on the northwest side in a cop neighborhood and there is very little crime where he's at. I still worry because he's an easy mark being a senior citizen. Whatever
