BPS Pro Qualifier Rods
How are these? I handles an Extreme combo, and it was light and felt exceptionally sensitive. Anyone have experience with the PQ's?

Checked out some rods today at BPS
He said he didn't care for the compre, tip heavy. If the BPS sells the Kistler Magnesium rods, The 7'H Kistler has almost the exact same feel as the 704c Powell, there is a difference in the two but it's subtle. I would venture to say the 705c is close to the 7'XH Magnesium. You have a 705c right? Does it feel tip heavy? Keep in mind I'll put either a Citica or a Tierra on it, which basically weigh the same. Thanks!

Checked out some rods today at BPS
I was really impressed with the St. Croix Avids. They were REALLY light and felt extremely sensitive. I checked out the BuCoos, which I really didn't like, the Compre 7' MXF felt tip heavy, and the Mojos were tip heavy as well. I also held a BPS Extreme, which I was suprisingly impressed with. I then headed to Greentop. I thought the Lowriders and Cara T7's were impressive too. But the biggest suprise to me was the Shimano Clarus. All of them were extremely light weight and perfectly balanced. I didn't get to hold a Powell though (705c). Anyone have any thoughts on their weight?

Swimbait setups?
Haha thank you. I mean (just to clear it up) $100 for a reel, then a $100 rod. $200 combo
-
Swimbait setups?
That's exactly what I was looking at! Hahaha but basically the same setup as you, and for throwing Mattlures Hard Gills, etc. What kind of line do you use?
-
Swimbait setups?
What's your setup for throwing swimbaits (ie Mattlures Hard Bass) up to about 4 oz.? I want to stay in the $100 range for the rod and reel ($100 reel, $100 rod).

If you had the chance to sit down with one professional angler 1 on 1 and honestly talk FISHING...

My good friend Mike Ostrander, and a biologist friend, then on to the pros: Scott Martin, Al Lindner (DEFINITELY), Paul Elias, and basically any other southern type guy. Pros shaped like a healthy bass are funny to watch ;D (Dion Hibdon)

All Purpose Rod
6'6"-7' MHF would be the best in my opinion. I'd go with the IMX

Split the grip on my spinning rod
I didn't say it was purty No but it looks fine. I just spray-painted the exposed blank black hahaha. But I mean it's a Lightning Rod, so like you said, it doesn't really matter if you completely wreck it.

Split the grip on my spinning rod
Well, I didn't know whether to put this in the Tacklemaking section or here, so I'll put it here, since I technically didn't "make" the rod. Anyways, I got bored and split the grip on my 7' MF Lightning Rod (spinning) and it looks way better. I just wanted to give it a little boost look wise It's funny though, beacause when I put my Sahara on it, it balanced PERFECTLY and was really light. I have a feeling it's gonna be a lot easier to fish now that it's lighter. I really like the look. Pics to come.

BCR893
I mean you really can't go wrong with a $400 rod and reel combined ;D

brand loyalty and the purchase decision
Since I'm 15, I can't go out and buy a $200 reel just for crankbaits, spinnerbaits, or topwaters. I have ONE chance when I'm buying a rod or reel to get it right, therefore I research, and research, and research rods/reels before I buy them. That's why I've been posting so much stuff about this rod compared to that rod, etc. In the end, I look for the best performance for the price, therefore I have a Citica, will soon have a Powell 705c and Compre CPC-X610MHB, and then MAYBE a used high-end Shimano reel (Chronarch, Curado, etc). Basically I need the best value in the $100-$150 range. Some people don't like Shimano, but I think the Citica is the best reel you can get for the price. One again, I THINK that. Some people will agree, others won't. Another $.02 to add to the pot.

What line for my new rod?
No, get a Citica. You will be WAY happier. Spool it with Yo-Zuri 10#

Taking care of reels
I "tuned" both my Citica and Sahara, now they're both silky smooth! Great feeling.

Taking care of reels
I cleaned out my Citica the other day and it was full of dirt and grime. It was kind of nasty. This made me think of the last time I cleaned it, which I couldn't remember. That led me to ask how you guys take care of your reels so that this doesn't happen? I really need to start taking better care of her
