  1. Never really used crank bait much, that’s the “thing I’m going to use more this year” I was going to use Norman speed clips. like I said I’ve never really used crank baits, got a feeling I’ll be changing them a lot.
  2. My sister let her chihuahua out one night, an owl swooped down and grabbed it right in front of her. It dropped it about 3 seconds later. They had a to take it to the vet, dog is fine, it traumatized my sister more than the dog….. but it still won’t go out at night. The dog not my sister.
  3. My condolences to you, his family, and his friends.
  4. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida
  5. Computers sure has changed the world of fishing….. and everything else. Now you can ask about bass fishing and you get a ga-zillion ways to catch them. Before you had to rely on what somebody else showed or told you about.

I’ve got some lite weight stuff, I cast it on a spinning rig. Going smaller works, most of my smaller stuff is wake bait or suspended lures.
  7. Congratulations on retirement
  8. Have being born and raised in the backwoods of West Virginia, I cut my teeth on trout fishing with my Grandparents. I would backpack a week long trips, fishing with ultralight rig for trout, smallmouth or what ever. Carry enough food so I wouldn’t starve, but rely heavily on what I caught and foraged along the way. I ended up with an old canoe, I could drift and paddle with more stuff and not have carry it on my back, guess I was getting soft. Didn’t fish much while I was in military, had other things too do. Lived I NC for a while did a ton of wade fishing for smallies, man is that fun. Did my share of salt fishing too, mostly bank fishing for snook, reds and trout , or shark fishing off the old Skyway bridge before they made it a fishing pier. Now I reside on Lake George, St John’s River where I kinda went back to my roots of fishing remote area. But now I fish from a boat, seat in a chair and use a trolling motor to sneak around and fish. And with I say “Amen”
  9. Good article @Crow Horse. I wear one all the time, when I pull away from the dock, it’s on. I forget I have mine on most of the time. I fish by myself most of the time, and in remote areas. Anybody can make a “mistake” or have an “accident”
  10. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida. You’ll learn a lot here, I sure did.
  11. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida.
  12. I’m going to really give crank baits a go. I even bought another rig for it, and ordered some baits too.
  13. I don’t know what it called but I like to lift the rod up two times, then watch it sink while reeling up the slack. Speed varies, depends on the season. For me this is a major line watching method, sometimes you’ll see the line moving to the side, way before you feel the tug.
  14. Glad you had a good trip
  15. Batman, cool boat, gotta love the utility belt, I’m really not crazy about the tights( I’d look shameful in them). The cape would have to go…. Probably foul my PDF. Everywhere you go you’ d get to hear Naha , Naha ,Naha Naha…. Batmaaaan! on a serious note….. @ol'crickety I think we all emulate everyone at one time or another. My Grandfather said something profound to me when I was in High School. One of my instructors, gave me a lesser grade for not following procedure…. I got the same results, just went about the different way. I was complaining about the instructor and …. You know the teenage punk crap… I knew more than him, my way was better blah blah blah. I guess he got feed up with my belly aching. Looked at me, with that big cigar in the side of his mouth, and said “ Everything you’ve learned you got from someone else, even if it’s what not to do” Then he walked away…
  16. I had the pleasure of witnessing a large cicada hatch one time. When I was running around in Central America, it was extremely loud.
  17. My condolences to you, along with his family and friends.
  18. I want some…..
  19. I think I’m a fun fisherman. I enjoy the whole aspect of fishing. The casting, the accuracy, the different tackle, rods and reels. The fact that I’m out there, if stopping and enjoying everything around me is what is called for, then I do that. If I hit into a school and I have to hit it hard and fast for as long as there biting, then that’s what I do. Guess I fish the situations as the need arises to get the job done.
  20. I’ve been here since 09, I did take a leave for a while, even quit fishing for a while. My dad died, which took a lot of the wind outta my sails with fishing. Changed line of work I was doing. Had to live out of motels for 3+ months at a time, sometimes getting 2weeks to none in between jobs. My life is a lot more simpler now, and I’m back fishing again.
  21. I live near there, I’ve never stayed there but used the boat ramp a few times, haven’t been there in a couple years. They fixed the ramp closer to me. It was clean looking, ramp was in good shape. Heard the cabins were nice inside, everyone was nice there. Your in pretty good fishing area too, Ocklawaha is close, lot of pads. I thought it was your typical Florida fish camp. Hope this helps
  22. Hahaha I had to look it up, stripers, is a the fish we catch on a pole. Strippers swing on a different kind of pole. …. Sorry everyone, English and literature “weren’t never” my strong points.
  23. Patience, patience, patience…. @airshot is right for used boats. I looked for a long time, had actually kinda quit looking for a while. Then my nephew calls me and his next door neighbor has one for $800.00, needed work ( well a lot of work)but I didn’t mind.
  24. @RipzLipz and @Logan S thank you for the videos
