  1. 12 lb Trilene Big Game green…it’s like Frank’s Hot sauce I use that on everything.
  2. I’ve got an old hummingbird,($99.00), It’s got temp and depth, and supposedly fish blips. It’s over ten years old, but works for me. I use the depth feature the mostly to find a few holes, when I’m after strippers. When I’m Hawg hunting …… troller motor off and raised, electronics off and pole in. I agree with @ol'crickety whole heartedly, think on what I would’ve missed looking a a screen.
  3. I have a suggestion…….. I’m probably going to get flamed for this idea. Take your wife with you to Bass Pro…… Hold on, hold on everyone…. Hear me out. @IneedAnewScreenName-98161861 you order yourself a new rig like @MIbassyaker suggested. A nice combo, around $200-$250 range or maybe more. Have it with in store pick-up. You take your wife to Bass Pro….. have her shop some. Our Bass Pro here in Daytona Fl, is less than 1/4 fishing, the rest is “other stuff”. Have lunch, maybe your Bass Pro has a restaurant, make a day of it. Take a back road home, or there, both. It’s a win/ win situation. Or…….my idea sucks, and I have no idea what I’m talking about.
  4. I’ve had “reel”good luck (sorry for the pun) with Bass Pro. I just ordered a Prodigy baitcaster combo for $79.00 / 7ft-med- heavy and a left hand reel/ centrifugal brake and mag. They are on sale, so we’ll have to wait and see. I convinced myself I needed a guest rig, but really If I like it, it will be added to my other rigs.
  5. I agree with @N Florida Mike Salt Run and the Glenn are spring feed. The water stays pretty much the the same temp all year. The Ocklawaha too, but a lot of traffic on them too.
  6. I fish the St. John’s River area, I’ve noticed they have moved shallow in early mornings. Maybe to get the early sunshine, for a little heat. I haven’t fish much past noon lately. Ribbon or curly tail with a little or no weight that I can get away. All have been small fish, calling them dinks would be boasting. Been loosing a lot of tails on the bait, I’m guessing their to small to make it to the hook.
  7. @LCG What an absolutely killer idea. Very thoughtful gesture and great way to remember your uncle.
  8. We used to call them “ bait wells”….. they kept our minnows in, even back before we had boats, made bait wells outta coolers, small air pumps with air stone. We took small Tupperware containers froze them, put them in the cooler trying to keep the water cooler for the bait. Now they’re called live wells, the size of a small jacuzzi, and going to put chillers in them. Wonder what the power consumption is.
  9. I like the secret lures, I use the 3.7 and the 3.0 jig heads in various wiegjts. Really like how weedless they are, great line of colors too.
  10. I have one of these mounted on a pistol grip 5’10”
  11. I’ve used Netbait’s paca crawl small or like @rangerjockey or @TOXIC said ….. a twin tailed grub with a skirt is great, with as little weight as you can get away with and twitch it real S-L-O-W alone the bottom.
  12. I read something on that too, another article said, he quit taking his meds. Bass Pro needs to move the restaurant near the aquarium. At least you’d have a seat for the show.
  13. Me ether, I’ve got two fiberglass poles I use ….. call them my “stick pins” . Plus work as push poles when going in shallow. No wires, no switches, no fuel required, work every time.
  14. I’ve got to restock my Dt’s, I’ve lost a whole 3600 box of them a while back. I hope somebody found them and putting them to good use. I’ve got Berkeley Maxscent that only catch a lot of catfish, kind understand that, they smell. I’ve got some whooper ploppers that catch nothing.
  15. Happy New Year Everyone and please be safe.
  16. AHHH! NO WAY! I love them…. Going to stock up on a few extras. They work perfect for me, usually have one with worms, another with tubes and creatures. Thanks for the “ heads up” @Bandersnatch
  17. I used more tubes and frogs this year, of course my old regular, curly/ ribbon tails. Now just because I fished them more doesn’t mean I caught more. I missed more strikes and blowups, with a frog this year, I quit counting. I think that’s why I fished them more this year, trying to master the technique. Plus fishing the pads is fun, watching the surface erupt, line start to tighten up, then me setting the hook, or trying to set the hook. Coming up empty…….. frustrating but still fun. Maybe 2024 will be more productive.
  18. Crank baits, don’t think I put any in the water this year.
  19. Hmmmmm, there is a disturbance in the force….. feel it I did.
  20. FOG…. I totally understand……I did it too the other day.
  21. We know not wearing a life jacket is not a good idea. My thoughts are with the survivors……the now single parent, family, friends, he won’t be around to help his parents as they get older and need help. Every thing we do might have the “butterfly effect” to someone or some thing. My condolences to his family and friends.
  22. Very very sorry, my condolences.
