BFS Rod Dobyns, Phenix or Cashion
The guides are Fuji alconites which are some of the best guides out there. Use magic eraser on the cork. You could seal it after you clean it with u40 cork sealer. I would like also add that Dobyns is one of the best balanced rods made.

Lure Weight Limits of a BC Reel
I throw 1/10 oz. On a Dobyns Sierra 734 with a Lews custom Lite no backlash. 30 lb vicious no fade braid.

Do you find glass cranking rods ideal for throwing cranks, and if so is Dobyn’s the way to go or are they too heavy?
I'm like Bill Dance. I don't like glass. I much prefer the feel of graphite with braid for cranks. Just don't horse the fish and use your drag.

I accidentally had a learning day on the water.

Braid slipping
If your spool isn't braid ready crazy glue works awesome. Roll on a few turns of line over some liquid brush on glue and it will never slip. When changing line just leave a long section to splice to.

Glass cranking rod recommendations
It can be. You've never seen underwater shots of them taking them and spitting them out ? Also you feel the bottom and structure. Both big parts of crankbait fishing.

Glass cranking rod recommendations
Personally I don't get glass cranking rods. I use graphite and don't loose fish.i think I catch more be ause I feel more. I've learned not to horse them in and don't let them jump.

How do you break off on purpose?
By the time you pull flourocarbon hard enough to break it the 20 feet has been stretched past the point of structural integrity. Just cut it.

Better casting accuracy and distance
Yeah I agree it's all wrist and practice.guys who bomb cast with their arms are just asking for backlash and fatigue. When I learned to use my wrist and not force a cast I gained a ton of distance and accuracy.

Help on deciding what rod to get!
St. Croix having big issues lately.

Which reels of today will be valued in the future?
Shimano dc reels are different. Lews custom Lite is different weight wise. Diawas t wing is different. Eventually if different is good it becomes common and isn't different anymore. I would say looking for features that definitely changed how reels were made.

Which reels of today will be valued in the future?
i argue that most lews diawa and shimano reels above $100 and up with proper maintenance will last just as long as any other reel and perform better doing it. its like people who say cars arent built well anymore. is that why they easily last over 200000 miles but old cars rarely did and if they did its because the owner really took care of it.

Better Fluorocarbon Line
If you think you will catch more fish with flouro than flouro coated hybrid you are kidding yourself.

Shimano SVS brakes: why not engage all brake blocks?
wrong. centrifugal works at front of the cast.tension is during entire cast as is regular magnets.
