  1. I seem to always hold them with my left hand. That is the hand that gets stuck by the hooks on a crankbait while I am trying to get my needlenose pliers out to remove the hooks.
  2. I always found it easier to adjust the spool tension knob instead of playing around with brake adjustments.
  3. I have always liked centrifugal brakes over magnetic. I have some Lews reels that have both. The magnetic brakes seemed to be so weak I felt like they weren't doing anything so I keep them turned off and don't even use them.
  4. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  5. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  6. When I had an outboard like that I put the gas in and then the oil. It will mix with no problems while going down the road.
  7. I agree with @John6.47. It would be a Zoom U tail in Junebug. Use a 6'6" BPS Bionic Blade with a Lews Tournament MP Reel in a 6.8:1 gear ratio. 1/8 oz. weight and a 2/0 offset round bend hook and 12# Sunline Super Florocarbon line. As for mono I would recommend Sufix Siege. This has been the best mono I have ever tried.
  8. I put it in a big sack. After it gets quite a bit in it I will take it to BPS and give it to someone at the fishing counter for recycling. They will recycle the spool too.
  9. I lost a part number 22001 out of an Abu Garcia reel. Anybody know where I can get one?
  10. Okay. Sorry for all the confusion I had over this.
  11. When are you and @king fisher going to pay me for those casting lessons I gave you?
  12. I am seeing all of that. What is it that appears to be a silver gray angled at about 90 degrees just past the dark car?
  13. I don't know what I am seeing. From the positions It looks like it has to be two cars of different colors.
  14. The picture has me puzzled. It looks like there are two cars in the water. The dark colored one and a silver gray just past it. Am I seeing this right or am I confused?
  15. I also use the 10" Ol Monster worms on a 5/0 EWG hook. My experience has been after you feel the bite to let them have it for 2 or 3 seconds before setting the hook. I lost a lot of fish when I first started fishing them because I was trying to set the hook to quick.
  16. I start with a crankbait most of the time. I usually start with three rods on deck. A crankbait, spinnerbait, and a T rig soft plastic. From there I get spinning rods out to finesse fish if nothing happens with the first ones.
  17. I am on the opposite end. I charge my batteries when I get back from fishing but unplug it after they are charged up. Charge them again right before going fishing. My charger is a Guest Charge Pro. This is what Bass Tracker was installing in their boats at the time. It is a10 amp 2 bank charger. I think it has a maintenance mode but I feel better unplugging it. I also unplug the trolling motor and remove the electronics.
  18. Mine were all still in the original boxes when I found them. The paperwork Rapala included with them had info about twitching them on the surface and fishing similar to a jerkbait. I guess I didn't read this or just forgot about it. They are at least 50 years old.
  19. Hello and welcome to the forum.
  20. Great job. Now take a break and go get some fishing time in.
  21. Guess I need to go buy some more. All of mine are silver and black back.
  22. Zoom Shaky Head Worm in Watermelon Seed or Junebug is what I use most of the time.
  23. @Mobasser got my curiosity up. I got out one of my old tackle boxes full of long forgotten lures. I found three of the Rapala Qriginal Floating Minnows in it. Two size 9 and one size 11. One was a lot newer than the other two and in good shape. I put new split rings and hooks on the two oldest ones. They are probably at least fifty years old but they are ready to go fishing. I tried to post a pic but I can't get it to resize right.
  24. A 6" purple worm.
  25. Every rod I am using right now is either 6' or 6'6". I don't have anything longer than 6'6" and won't but one any longer. I still have some 5'6" rods. It wouldn't bother me to get them out and use them again.
