  1. i'd go for a dobyns fury FR703SF (7' medium fast action) for your senko's and light texas rigs. pair it with some 8-10lb test fluoro and you're good to go. i personally use 15lb braid with a 8-10lb leader on all of my spinning setups, but if you're feeling confident and want to learn how to tie some very useful knots, you can try that too! plenty of youtube videos to guide you in the right direction on how to do that. good luck!
  2. son of a gun, now i have to check all of my tatula's when i get home
  3. pretty much exactly what i did last weekend and had decent success. a ghost shiner and perch colored shad rap with LONG pauses between not so harsh jerks was the ticket along with slow rolling a small paddle tail swimbait in 17-20ft of water
  4. awesome to hear and thanks glen for the update!
  5. probably not in their "BASH THE 5 FISH LIMIT FORMAT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE" marketing guidelines. anyways, prayers for aaron and his family to pull through!
  6. jerkbait, hair jig, small swimbait (2.5"-3") on jig head slow rolling the bottom
  7. the jerkbait has been producing for me lately with water temps 48-52 degrees. is it worth throwing a weightless fluke out there to get the same reaction bite on different sets of fish? i've seen a ton of information that a fluke is better post spawn and in the summer/fall. for being a soft plastic jerkbait with similiar action (other than the bait suspending), why does it seem to be reccomended in such different times of the year?
  8. jerkbait, lipless crankbait, wiggle wart, & hair jig have all been working here in CT ?
  9. if i can catch 15-20 fish on a single bait, the presentation is obviously working and the durability is unmatched. i'll take that any day of the week!
  10. after a smackdown on green and brown bass yesterday throwing shadow raps around, i quickly realized the hooks are hot garbage and almost every single treble was getting bent out. what is everyones go-to treble replacement for your hard baits?
  11. bringing this thread back to see if there are any comparable alternate options to omfishingsinkers? given the current situation regarding china, i am avoiding ordering product from there.
  12. at that point he hadn’t caught a scoreable fish in over an hour and a half. he had to make a move and try something else
  13. being from connecticut i had to take advantage as an 8 pounder is considered a massive trophy. we caught about 50 fish throughout the day mostly all cookie cutters 2-3lb. biggest was around 8lb caught by my buddy..... on a ned rig haha
  14. i've only fished it once which was during the week in peak summer. i could only imagine how much pressure the lake gets at it's prime.
  15. Just announced for obvious reasons regarding COVID-19. This is getting ridiculous!
  16. i've used the 4.5 on a chatterbait as a trailer. has nice action and they're relatively cheap.
  17. i've caught fish on various different trailers. the z-man razor shad was my staple last season - has great action and the durability of the elaztech is UNBEATABLE in my opinion.
  18. i threw both last year fun fishing and through tournaments probably equally, and i caught maybe two or three on a spook compared to a TON on the plopper. don't know what it is!
  19. can't buy a bite on a jerkbait, probably because i give up on it very easily. can't buy a bite on a spook, probably because i've caught a gazillion on a whopper plopper and prefer that for my open water topwater bait
  20. PB largemouth 5lb 10oz - weightless t-rigged yum dinger in cajun neon PB smallmouth 4lb 3oz. - 4" zoom finesse worm in black on dropshot
  21. i used the VMC EWG spinshot all of last year. drop shot by far out produced every other technique for me and i don't recall losing more than 1 or 2 fish. partly might be the EWG hook compared to the regular dropshot hook. i also like to set the hook pretty good even with "lighter" line
  22. owner ultra head weighted wacky hooks are fantastic and sticky as anything i've ever fished. can't recall ever losing a fish on one
  23. it's tough and really depends on how warm the spring is up here. the spawn could be sometime in may, or it could be in early june. candlewood has very good largemouth fishing as well which i would not overlook
  24. there's a guy in my local club who only fishes tubes, in one color (melon pepper), and consistenly places top 3 almost every tournament. most lakes around me are mixed between largemouth and smallmouth, but he catches both species very consistently.
