Went fishing today. Didn't drink enough water like an idiot. Got some bad heat sickness. But the wife caught a nice little smallie. spacer.png

I caught nothing, other than a really little small mouth that wrapped me around some brush near the bank and freed himself. So, yeah. I've had better days fishing. ?

Drink water, folks.

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Heck, man it’s really tough for me to say. I almost don’t want to guess. Do you have a length? It is a big fish. I’m looking at the tail, belly, and of course that big mouth. I think you are right, I think it is definitely a 5+.

Thanks! And yeah, that is what I also thought.

Unfortunately I haven’t bought a tape measure yet, but I will next time I go to the tackle shop.

I went unintentionally frog fishing today. Set out to the local pond with a size 20 spinning reel on a medium light fast action rod with a 4” Senko tied wacky style on 8# mono.

I had not been there since the Bass were on beds. To my surprise the pond was full of lily pads and vegetation that had grown to over 50% of the surface.

Threw my lure in to the clear spots and caught 3 pickerel. I knew where the Bass were but didn’t want to commit to the vegetation with such light gear.

I finally cast my Senko into the green stuff and started skirting the surface with it. Bam! LMB hit it and close to the clearing got him to shore easily.

Started pitching again to the vegetation when a bigger Bass grabbed the worm and started digging deep into the weeds. I had to pull him and a mountain of salad through the pad with my poor medium light Bass X rod strained to its limit.

I will be going back soon with a baitcaster Medium Heavy rod and 12# minimum line.

Nothing special from me, had a couple hours after dropping my daughter off to see her stepsister. 3 fish

1.82lbs on a 4” black, blue dinger wacky

2.22lbs on the wacky dinger

2.02lbs on a 5.8 keitech on a 6/0 flashy swimmer

also caught two smaller pike also, one on a wacky and one on the keitech.

Enjoyed a great morning of top water action, this 4 lbr being the biggest. Had one bigger shake off (of course). Caught them on an old Zara Puppy that I bought from a cheap generic Pradco bin at Wal-Mart years ago. Also caught several on a well worn Teeny Pop-R.

Caught 19 bass(11 largemouth 8 spots) between 11 and 21 inches today and what seemed like a couple thousand white perch.   I caught 2 white perch on the same cast 2 different times.    The 17 inch spot pictured was the hardest fighter.

It was a decent day on Quabbin Reservoir in Central Massachusetts with a topwater bite the first couple of hours and then more smallies situated 10' - 20' deep most of which snacked on Z-Man's delicious Finesse TRDs and TicklerZ.

Casting counts as PT ?

My daughter and brand new 4 week old grand daughter were here before my previous PT session. Since I'm the crying baby whisperer, I had to do my thing. Towel over my left damaged shoulder, followed by the baby on that side. Must be the combination of my heartbeat and voice that does the trick. It only works on that side, and as usual, she was out like a light.

I needed to keep adjusting my shoulder for the next 45 minutes to remain comfortable, and to keep her head in the just-right position. This gave my muscles a small pump. When I got to PT right after that, my warm up went way better than usual. Things were far less "crunchy" starting off. Typically that feeling is gone after the first few sets of cable pulls, but it was nice to begin with a less disconcerting feeling. I told the grand poohbah therapist about my sleeping baby warmup story, then suggested that some type of pre-warmup activity before PT was a good idea. He agreed.

I shot up to a local spot about an hour before my last PT session. Started off light, but just had to test myself throwing a bigger rig with a swim bait for the first time in 2 months. Felt OK, but I needed to watch it. The muck is really kicking in since I've been gone. Even top water treble baits were a misery, so I went back to a lighter set up throwing the trusty 5" Caffeine shad. Lost one and got one, and it turns out that casting is PT too. :thumbsup_blue: No crunch on the cable pulls.

I went four for six this morning . The two misses I had , those fish were caught on the next cast . Unheard of in my frog experience . I may never fish a toad again . I'm lucky to have a 25 percent landing ratio with a solid body toad . .

WP 75 has been the deal in the morning.

Caught 9 and every single one was after the bait sat after the cast until the water calmed.

So you fished it like   floating minnow baits ?

Caught 9 of these little guys in about 3 hours.  After the bite died on top they started going after a jig and chunk on the bottom.

After the bait was casted, I let it sit until the water became calm. Once I started reeling, the fish hit it almost immediately......no wind this morning.

Haven't been on here lately since I only fish bass a few times a year in the spring. Figured I'd share my best from this weekend. Caught on a clown shadow rap.

First plopper fish of the year for me. He didn't get the memo of bigger baits = bigger fish. ?
