Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Had my boss and his son over today . Primary goal was bream. The 2nd bream Alex hooked , as he had it almost to the dock , a bass clobbered the bream and he hooked the bass right in the corner of the

  • So I went fishing today, and caught a 9#. Scale bounced between 8-15 and 9-2, but let's call it a 9, shall we? NLMB trout eater.   Super slow rolling a 8" weedless on the bottom in about 15

That's some current, Russ. Nice bass too.

Seven-pounders for @king fisher are like 3.5-pounders for me. I'm half a King Fisher. What's half a king? Does that make me a Duchess Fisher?

@Swamp Girl, we have always called that spot big shoal but apparently it’s good for big striper, a friend of mine that has fished there for decades calls it the “striper hole”

Went to one of my favorite ponds today. Had to throw a lure I really don’t like throwing anymore. But the stick bait got it done lol. Got one lil guy to play.

Hey everyone - last weekend we got out and had some fun on the little grass lake local to us and successfully filmed it and posted it on YouTube!  It’s beautiful down here in NC and I think our video does a nice job showcasing that in addition to a little fall Hybrid Hunter fun.  Our lakes close at 3:30 to boaters so it’s short and sweet but we get our licks in and show a thing or two about fishing the HH!  Enjoy and thanks for watching!

I'd be fishing still too if I thought I could catch something. I couldn't even walk my dog today as it was pelting sleet.

Swung by the pond today, and it was a little slow. Took a while to get the first bite, which was a shaky head. Not something I fish much.

A while of getting nothing else, trying various things, and I ended up fishing a jig, and started getting some. Then, I tried the blade bait, which I've never had success with before. I had tried it a time or two, but only briefly.

Having learned the Rat-L-Trap earlier, I thought that the blade bait probably would be similar, and I was able to get a few on it. Interesting lure.

Got out to the home lake around noon today. Water temps were 47-48 degrees. Air temps were 45-53. Not much wind at all. Managed three small LMB's on NED and Gulp minnow.

Did find some Crappie and Bluegill stacked up on brush piles...caught ~30 or so. It was a good time!

Likely the last day on the water for me. Chasing waterfowl next weekend with my Brother and friends. Then Thanksgiving, and Iowa vs. Nebraska on Black Friday (( Go Big RED! ))

I went both Friday and Saturday on my kayak to two different lakes and the two days couldn't have been more different.

Friday I caught 8 largemouth and and handful of nice crappie.  The weather was great, 45 degrees in the morning and 60s in the afternoon with a small amount of wind.

Saturday was a nightmare.  The forecast called for 8-10 mph winds with gusts up to 15mph and temps up to 70. Sounded like the perfect day but it turned into a disaster.  The wind was 25mph sustained and I had gusts around 40+mph. At one point for about 5min, the tornado sires went off. I started to get swells that were about 2-3 feet. The temps stayed in the 50s as the wind was creating a mist. It was weird. The air was warm but the mist made it constantly cold. I eventualy tucked tail and hid in a cove behind a boat shelter. There was no way I was making it back to the boat ramp.  I waited for about 45min and started to head back but noticed that there was a spot across the lake with a high hill. I made it across and was able to fish the rest of the day. I ended up catching 1 smallmouth,  a few wipers, and oddly a few gizzard shad.  This would be a pretty abysmal day but under the conditions, I caught a few fish and I survived. I'd call that a win.

I will say one thing, if had my old kayak, I would have gone swimming. For once the Hobie PA14 I have, took a beating and kept me safe. My body is still soar. It surprised me how physically exhausted I was after bouncing around all day. It took a lot out of me to navigate and keep the kayak balanced.

No fish pictures but I took this after getting off the water. Oddly the wind died down as soon as I left.

Haven't posted for a while but I've been getting out and fishing quite a bit. Water temps are down in the mid 50's, about my favorite time of year to fish. I've been catching some nice ones, including a new lake PB at one of the lakes nearest my house that ate one of my homemade Ned jigs. I'm less than 100 fish from the beginning of the year goal to catch 2025 bass this year.

Quality plus quantity for Clayton!

Wow. One 12” bass on a jerkbait. Nice, overcast skies with a slight breeze. Thought it’d be a better day. But better than the skunk.

Water temp was still 48.  Air was 45.  Cloudy, misty all day.  No wind.  Caught 4 crappie on a Stunna, 7 bass on a Wiggle Wart.  First pic is a small cut with a channel that runs out to the main creek channel at 10 ft.  Wiggle Wart hiway!  Most of the bass were in here.

Crappie had broad shoulders!

Found another muskrat winter home!

Thanks for the location pic, Al. Those are broad shoulders. Do you have sonar telling you that there's a channel there?

Yes, but I found it BS, (Before Sonar), with a crankbait.  This ditch has been producing bass off and on for years.

@Swamp Girl does this, she doesn't have sonar.  Your eyes can help you find bass.  Anytime I see a cut or pocket in the bank I always investigate out in front of that pocket for a channel or deeper water.  When the lake was new that channel may have been well defined but after years of silting in now it's just an area that is a little deeper.  It can still make a difference and hold bass.

I found a ridge at my pond late this fall when I saw some smallmouth chasing shad. I hooked one and was pulled to where had been feeding. We're in a drought, so our water is low and with the water always being clear, I could see a ridge of bowling ball-sized rocks. I followed it toward shore and away from shore and it continued both directions. So then I paddled out and found a shoreline marker, in this case a particular tree, to mark it. I expect to catch many brown bass there in coming years.

That’s awesome @Blue Raider Bob!!! I live across the river on the left side of your photo back a mile or 3. I have caught some nice fish where you’re standing…… and walked those railroad tracks to ballgames and classes
