Another beautiful day, warm and windy.

49 degree water.  Caught a pile on a squarebill bounced off shallow wood.  Quit clickin at 25, they were all the same size but I was having fun and enjoying the warm air.

Last week I fished this lake and the beaver cuttings were under water.  Low, low, low.

BTW....I got a hook in my thumb.  Tried the braided line removal trick.  Works like a charm!  I'm such a wimp it took me 5 minutes to convince myself to yank!

Today I caught my first 8" hudd fish... after over 100 hours fishing it over the years. I've caught fish on bigger baits but for some reason I could never get them on the traditional slow bottom crawl

Cold weather has always been a struggle for me

You're throwing the right lures.  Fall is all about the baitfish.  The easiest thing to do is fish the wind.  Find banks that the wind is blowing against because the wind moves the baitfish and the bass come with them.  I'm catching my fish on the main lake right now.  They aren't in the creek arms yet and I'm well north of you.  If you look at my post a little before yours all of my fish came from only two spots.  Both spots were main lake, rip rap banks with the wind trying to blow my boat into the rocks.

Man, can our weather turn on a dime. Next week has a few highs in the 30’s, and ever changing wind will likely push my will to grind for a few last bass or call her a wrap for the most part. I had a decent little number day(counting dinks) with one good anchor fish and another day that was “not my day” bass wise as I struggled with 4 keepers, but I did land two Atlantic salmon casting for bass and losing another. I got one nice fish on a jerkbait and the rest on paddles.

Al, I need to learn that line trick. A hook in the thumb especially hurts: so many nerve endings!

Katie, I had seen it on YT but this was first time I used it.  Before I yanked:  This is gonna hurt, this is gonna rip a big hole in my thumb, this is gonna hurt, maybe I should just go to the ER, this is gonna hurt........

Came out clean and didn't even hurt!!!

I've watched it on YouTube a couple times. I need to watch it again and give it a try. Punching a hook through me a second time to cut below the barb hurts!

The weather in New England has been quite windy for the past week, with the forecast predicting even colder and windier days ahead. It’s been difficult going out in that sort of stuff, but I’ve been braving the elements and catching some good fish. Good luck to everyone out there!IMG_4424-compressed.jpeg.603292f81ad0eb7a9e84b746d7849956.jpeg

Got a couple on the magnum speed worm while reeling across the top of weeds down my bulkhead.

It doesn’t show it very well , but this was the darkest fish of the year…

I was driving home from work zoned out at a red light and I heard a car horn blow. It was my buddy at a nearby gas station. He got out of his car and acted like he was reeling a fish in . That was 4:32 pm…… I got home and called him, he said he was thinking about going to fish at the rock quarry, I said forget that let’s launch the boat even tho we have negative daylight hours now. Launched around 5:10 and had a nice 17” SMB in the boat by 5:25. Got it with the purple worm on a Texas rig on a full moon in swift current, water temp around 65.

Happy Molly Shannon GIF by Saturday Night Live

Yet another amazingly blessed day on the water.  Lost count of the LM.  Gave up on the striper when I caught three in a row over 7lbs.  They were wearing me out.  It takes so long to land one that size.  Left them and went back after the LM.  The last pic is a girl I named "lipstick".

I rode the struggle bus yesterday and caught one bass by pitching a spoon to it when it was chasing bait on the surface over 40 FOW. I fished deep, shallow, in-between, slow, fast, big, standard, & finesse.

GP, I love your lake pic. I especially love looking at all that undeveloped shoreline.

Fished a pond back in the woods that I’ve tried before and never caught a bass there . Same results today , so I moved to another pond , and got this 7 pounder on my last cast. It was a well built fish that really gave up a great fight…

Funny, I thought I hit spot-lock until I heard a “thud.” I bumped a marker buoy that was 30 yards behind where I first hooked the fish..!
