Despite the sale being pretty meh the past few years, still had to hit up the BPS classic sale to keep the tradition going with my dad. Since I was there...

 

Picked up a Nasci 1000 for my kayak drop shot rod ($20 off with trade in).

 

Also picked up some baby shad for the fall (small smelt) since they were 45% off

 

Since we made the road trip to BPS we also had to hit the local tackle shop. Haven't tried the paddle tail zako yet and since summer will be here before we know it I also added some 1/2oz finesse jigs.

 

8" and 5" Magdrafts

 

Haven't seen this color from them before and could see this working at Clear Lake next month.

While I still plan on buying components and making weedless jigs ala @A-Jay design, in the interim I found these 1/4 oz. jigs with cone heads that I hope will keep out of the muck as much as possible. 

 

I seemed to have a lot idle time waiting for some dry, stable weather and busy hands occupying a keyboard to surf old fishing videos and tackle sites.  Next thing I know it’s Christmas all over again ?

kinda sucked since I had to take them all out of the packages to put on split rings.  hard to imagine a bait at that price range not coming with split rings.

local shop had the first casting rod that I have seen in the st croix legend tournament bass series that I have ever seen, it sort of went downhill from there lol.

I wanted to get a 6.2 last year but someone literally stole the last one they had in the display case. This rounds out my met b collection, I own 2 8.1, 1 7.1, now the 6.2. Series complete now onto the new bantam or zillion, I own 1 bantam 22 in 7.1, zillion in 7.1, 6.3. Decisions decisions lol.

Yeah, few things in life really truly make me happy, my family and kids and learning new things and getting better at them and then fishing. I always wonder about the difference of what I consider mid range gear vs the cheaper stuff that I started with. I still like some of cheaper stuff just as much as my higher end gear. It’s just a obsession or sickness haven’t decided yet truly.

Hey, I hear ya buddy. And couldn't agree more. I love my 'higher end' stuff. But I also have some cheaper stuff that I love just as much for various reasons.

One of the local Walmarts near me had there’s on clearance for $5 a pack I think, I never got the chance to see them for the $1.79, 3.50 a pack unfortunately ? I did hit Berkley power bait max scent for dirt cheap when my local meijer remodeled though ?

Have never fished that exact wakebait. But most wakebaits perform best the slower you retrieve them. But they all have their sweet spot. You'll figure out what that is. Wakebaits are awesome tho. The 6th Sense Speed Wake can be burned fast, and the strikes on it can be vicious!

Have never fished that exact wakebait. But most wakebaits perform best the slower you retrieve them. But they all have their sweet spot. You'll figure out what that is. Wakebaits are awesome tho. The 6th Sense Speed Wake can be burned fast, and the strikes on it can be vicious! 

Wish it was a little bigger as I'm becoming more and more addicted to big baits, but I'm looking forward to the strikes for sure!

 

Awesome stuff by the way, big fan of that Invisx on my spinning setups.  Just so manageable.   

 

I just watched a nice video on it, and the guy was saying he likes it just as much if not more in diving mode.    TW didn't even have them because I always go there to read reviews lol.
