Kistler selling KLX rods for 99.00 (half price). All mod-fast. Probably comparable to the Tatula Elite (non AGS). I have a couple of these rods and I'm happy with them (medium for lighter crankbaits, heavy for smaller swimbaits).

I didn't think I needed another rod, but if they had the 7'6" XH in stock I would have bought it for a heavier a-rig, mid-sized soft swimbait rod.

I guess they are running a series of specials; I came to post about the reel and line sale they had going, went to check it and it was replaced with this.

Just wanted to drop in and say hi to you all. I'm not as active 'round these parts anymore. Haven't bought anything in about 5 month. Haven't had the boat out in almost 5 months. Really sucks, but it'

A few Legend X rods for $200…

The 7’4” sold out just before I could pull the trigger. Might see more retailers start pushing the elites and x out the door.

That’s the one I wanted. Ended up with the 6’8mh. May never use it bc I’m not a fan of sub 7’ rods but couldn’t pass up that price!

Under Armour has their fish elite rain suit for 40% off on their website. Comes out to around $265 for both jacket and bibs.

Hmmmmmm seems like a good deal.

I wonder how it performs?

I have the Shoreman Goretex pac lite suit that this one replaced. For under $300, it’s a great deal. Not sure if the new one is as lightweight as the old though. If so, it makes one of the best summer rain suits I’ve seen/used.

Didn’t see it, but the Veterans Day sale is live at The Hookup. $20 gift card “cash back”

for each $100 spent.

Too many good sales going on I guess.....I need some direction.

Had a birthday a few days ago, got a few dollars to spend. Where would you put them rod wise? I've been slowly making the trek back to the bass world from fly fishing for 20+ years, so any help anybody wants to send my way, come on with it.

(Currently have Wife got me a St. Croix Premier 7' rod with a Shimano SLX 150hg for my birthday. Love it. Also have a GX2 w/ a Shimano Sedona reel....and a whole bunch of fly rods that are collecting dust...)

If you're brand agnostic and aren't looking for a specific length/power/action the mystery rods at Midway have worked out great for me.  I've purchased 6 now and all of them have been great.  At this point I think I would end up with duplicate rods, but that's only possible now that I have some rods.

Could you please explain this.

A couple of times a year (it seems) Midway will sell "mystery box" rods and reels.  You purchase a rod or reel based on price point and WYSIWYG.  The rods and reels are for sale for 40-45% below MSRP and you are guaranteed a rod that MSRPs for XXX amount.

For instance, it'll be advertised as "Bass casting rod minimum $375" and the price is $225.  The categories I've seen are:

Bass casting rod

Bass casting crank rod

Bass Spinning rod 1pc

Bass spinning rod 2pc

Trout/Panfish rod

Casting reel

Spinning reel

Inside those categories they'll have sub categories for reel size and handedness.  Below is a copy of an earlier post I made about my first experience.  Since then I've purchased another two and both rods were 7'6"  Lews Carbon Lites - one MH and one H.  I've received rods from ultralight to Heavy and 6'10" - 7'10".  So, if you are looking to fill a hole in your lineup, it's not the best approach but if you are looking to expand your lineup and don't need a specific length/power/action it's an inexpensive way to do it.

Begin repost:

A while ago another member wanted a report from someone who had bought mystery rods from Midway.

Well, here you go:

This past December I YOLO'd and bought a mystery rod, or four... I ordered two casting rods and two spinning rods at different price points. I put specifics below, but the conclusion is that I didn't get ripped off.

First, all of the rods were St. Croix. For a Midwest boy that suits me fine. I haven't had a chance to use any of them yet.

The least expense rod was advertised as a "bass crankbait casting rod minimum value $175”. Purchase price $105. I received a Mojo Bass series Carbon Cranker - 7'2" Med Heavy / Moderate. (Market Price $175-200)

The second rod was advertised as a"bass casting rod minimum value $200. Purchase price $120. I received a Victory series - 7'3" Heavy / Mod-Fast. (Market Price $200-275)

The third rod was advertised as a "bass spinning rod-2 piece, minimum value $200". Purchase price $130. I received an Avid series - 6'8" Medium / Extra Fast 2 piece. (Market Price $200-250)

Finally the spendy one. Advertised as a "trout and panfish spinning rod minimum value $400”. Purchase price $220. I received a Legend Elite Panfish series - 7'0" Lite / Extra Fast. (Market Price $385-410)

So, there you go. Four samples of the Midway mystery rods. I am overall pleased. The only disappointment is the length of the Victory rod and only because I could use a rod for carolina rigs and bigger swim baits.

If you're a fan of the original rat-l-trap. The Bill Lewis website adds a free chrome blue back rat-l-trap in your cart for every lure you put in your cart.

For $50 I bought 8 traps in various colors, got 8 chrome blue back traps for free, plus they included a free $25 hat. It doesn't appear to be advertised anywhere on their site that I see, but it worked for me. Maybe an early black friday deal? Just thought I'd share.

SPROs early black friday sale is pretty good...definitely worth checking out!  SPRO Sports Professionals

Not exactly a sale but I just ordered a previous gen Lew's Custom from Dance's Sporting Goods. First time using them but they give you a 10% discount that stacks (other than you have to pay $5 for shipping which is actually fine w/ me) so the total was $95. They have one more so I figured I'd mention it in case anyone else wants one as that seems like it's going to be a decent jerkbait reel for under $100. They also have a previous gen Tatula 150 for $109 which I almost grabbed even though I don't actually need one whatsoever. Both reels are LH and they shipped right away as well.

Some standouts here, 50% off some rods. And 70 off some reels. The reels aren't listed in the BF sale, just search for them. Oh and the new TBX takes boxes are 75 off too.

I copped some bronzeye 65/90 and poppers. Couple creepers too because this is some killer discounts.

I almost bit, especially cuz when you put in your email address you get $20 off of $75, for $89 I almost just grabbed it... but I definitely dont need another reel, and if I do, I definitely dont need a reel that loads 125 yards of 16#. I dont even have enough rods for the reels I already have

 But thanks for sharing

Think you talked me into doing the same....put 11 frogs in the cart and saw the whopping $46 price tag and thought "yep, need to do this one."
