For those who like the Abu Veritas rod deal, purefishing website also has Hank Cherry and other signature series rods on half-off sales. Pretty sure they use the same blank, just some minor differences.

Here's one example:

Nice find.  Definitely the same blank as the TE.

Been lurking for a while, finally just created an account. I was looking for some sort of support group for people who buy way too much tackle, but stumbled my way into here....so I reckon this'll do.

Ok all you guys who bought the ABU rods..

What ya think? I’m rocking the 6’10”

Kinda interested in that spinning model, what ya say about it and that reel seat?

I picked up the 7'2" Medium casting and 7'6" spinning rods. The 7'2" casting is a true medium where the 7'6" spinning is more like a medium-lite+, which is exactly what i was hoping for. Reminds me of my older fenwick hmg ml spinning rod (2 versions ago model with a similar grip to the current berkley lighning rods) which is one of my favorites, only it was 6'9" and lost the top 2" of it but that didn't affect its performance in the slightest. With that said, the 7'6" rod i had delivered came packaged very well but the tip guide was bent badly and the insert fell out. I ordered 2 more on top of that just in case one of those had an issue and i'm glad i did, as one of the 2 new rods had a couple guides that didn't line up straight. Only one of the three 7'6" spinning rods made the quality control cut and ill be returning the other 2 this week at our local store. I have yet to fish them but they are very light and the grips on both feel good in hand.

Interesting deal, but why is it called "Magnesium reel" when both the frame and sideplates are made of graphite?

Sounds good and bad, but lucky you, having a store close by. Sucks the guides weren’t right

I still haven’t been able to fish my 6’-10” MH as work has been in overdrive but I’m determined to get it out next week and I’ll comment then.

Just because you name it Magnesium doesn’t mean it’s made of magnesium.

I have a couple of the “chromium” reels and there’s no chrome on them either.

Maybe it’s the color “magnesium “ ! 😆

That's what I thought, like no glass in a glass rod,  or no silver in a Silverado. At least they're honest about the material.

BTW, Suffix 832 is on sale from this website I ordered before, if you don't mind ordering in bulks.

What if you buy one in silver color?

I’m not a fan. It’s not a true fast action, more moderate. Definitely a bit more whippy than I was expecting.

This is what I said about it earlier in this thread:

"Side by side, and while it's still a fast, it's definitely a bit more moderate than my Tatula XT 7' MF which has been my finesse trd on a 1/16oz ned head rod. Just taking a few casts in the yard it loads fine with that weight. I got the ABU specifically to get a bit more distance with that bait or others in the 5 gram range."

Don't take this to mean it would be a good hair jig rod. It isn't a "Light" powered rod. Just a slightly slower fast, IMO. Plenty of backbone though. @Dog described it as a ML+. Perhaps that's close enough depending on what you're comparing it to.

$99 @ 50% off?  I started with a few Veritas rods when I got back into fishing ten or twelve years ago.  They were $99 at full retail then.

The Veritas rods are still around $100~120. I was talking about the Veritas TE series, which is a little better. It takes the spot of the original Veracity series, which was discontinued I believe.

Fenwick World series rods, which use Powerlux 500, have similar "slower" action. I guess that's one of the characteristics of Powerlux material. IMO it is a good thing: it keeps hooked fish pinned, instead of tearing a gap in fish mouths like fast or xfast tips tend to do.

My first Loomis rod from about 1993 was a GL3 7’ MBR, Moderate Fast and it was perfect for Jigs at 1/2 and did Texas rig powerbait 7” worms w 1/4oz weight. It also threw Magnum Senkos well. It proved to be a perfect jig rod.

I'm not suggesting the ABU TE is that rod but it’s pretty decent at the price point. I will use it pitching 1/4-3/8 jigs & 3/16 w tubes t-rigged. I believe after using it that 1/2 is its wheelhouse. I can’t imagine throwing 1 oz.

Nories Flip Ko Gill Sale

Love these. 25% / $4 off each pack of these bad boys. Are they any better / worse than the other options? Not a clue, but I picked up some and have loved fishing with them.

@F14A-B @Dog

I purchased the Abu Garcia Veritas TE (7'6", spinning) - This past weekend I was able to take it out on  the water - I have it paired with a Shimano Ultegra - as has been mentioned is has more of a ML+ feel to it - I like that is has a bit of a slower/more moderate action - I threw some chatter/bladed lures, some jigs and spy-baits on it - with the 7'6" length you can certainly chuck the lures a considerable distance - I landed three LMB, I think the slower/more moderate action (it is listed as a fast action rod) helped with keeping them pinned - I have a 7'6" Okuma (Ultra-Light/X-fast) and a 7'6" iROD (Heavy/Moderate) and now this 7'6" Abu Garcia (Medium/Fast, but as mentioned a bit more moderate) which covers most of the lures I am looking to use a rod of that length with - I feel for the $89 price point it was a solid purchase and a rod I will use and enjoy

@WaskaCrank12 that’s awesome, it was a solid buy especially in today’s economy. Glad you’re enjoying it.

I too finally got my 6’-10” medium heavy out recently. Although I didn’t catch any fish I did catch a rod/reel combo which has never happened to me before so there is that. I had a 1/2 ounce bladed jig tied on with no trailer and I felt like the rod was properly responsive as far as feeling the blades turning once I started the retrieve and that the fast action is on par with what I expected at least. I’m planning on getting a 3/8 ounce swim jig on it next and feel it’s a really nice rod at a really good price. Thanks again for sharing this deal @KP Duty, PS here’s a photo of my rod/reel catch 🤢IMG_5278.jpeg.37d9c86fd42481fccd3895bd212c4104.jpegIMG_5277.jpeg.cd6c0a408e07133c54b17f86d51fe448.jpeg

Not a sale per se but the grass piece looks to be on tackle warehouse right now. Someone please convince me to not get one or three.

Opposite of me. My son picked me up a handful of the 3/8 in Japan over the summer. No 1/2 there. I’ve been fishing a 3/8 regular or a 1/2 flex all summer. I’m excited to get some of the 1/2 at TW though…
