That’s a sweet deal on that Veritas. I’ve purchased a rod from Sierra a handful of years ago and I was surprised how well they packaged it.

@KP Duty Thanks for sharing 😉 I just placed my order even though I don’t need it I can’t pass up a killer deal.

Tatula Elites are $185-ish on Amazon.

Just an FYI on the above Abu Garcia Veritas TE rods if you open KP Duty’s link and keep scrolling down you’ll see they are offering a 7’-2” medium powered casting rod along with a 7’-6” I believe medium powered spinning rod for the same clearance price also. I’m dang tempted to pick up all 3 at this price.

Nice catch! I didn't get an elite but this got me looking and ended up getting a TATU100HL for $143 :)

Was I foolish to assume they ship in a rod tube?

I can’t say how it’s handled now but the rod I purchased as I said a handful of years ago was in a heavy tube and well protected inside as well. I’m sure hoping they haven’t changed that policy.

They do, but it's no Tackle Warehouse tube.  They used to ship rods in a long skinny cardboard box, and I had 2 different rods show up broken.  The past couple years they changed to a cardboard tube, although somewhat thin.  I bet it shows up ok though.  I'm a Sierra Trading junky- like 90% of my clothes and all my sunglasses came from there.  They have all the expensive brands for a bargain.

Tackle warehouse selling Shimano mastiff FC 50% off. Anyone have experience with this line?

If it was good it wouldn't be 50% off.

JMO.   :)

Who knows, people are weird about line and usually just use what they know. It's a newer product from a company that hasn't traditionally sold line here so maybe just tough to get sales traction.

I just ordered four rolls, I've got a couple of spools (JDM) before. I was trying it out to see if it is comparable to Tatsu or Diawa Samurai. It does seem like it is very comparable to Tatsu and Samurai.

Yea new line and new hooks seem like difficult things to break into if you aren't an established name in those categories. People are picky and once trust is established or broken it's hard to get people to change.

I 100% agree.

But I'll let someone else be the test "dummy".

I don't want to be the one that says, "Well chit, I shouldn't have thrown my new $150 swimbait on THAT line".    :)

The 7'6" ML-M/F spinning rod? I have the Elite AGS version of it and I am really liking it.

It is a 7'6"M (6-12lb  3/16-5/8oz) Veritas TE.  I just ordered one myself 🎄

For those who tie your own jigs, Amazon is selling this great Dobyns finesse 3/8 oz football jighead for about 45 cents a piece. These jigheads use strong Gamakatsu hooks with very effective lure keepers, as well as recess line tie. They are perfect for finesse jigs. The only minor improvement that I would suggest is a drop of superglue on the weedguard. It's already pretty strong, but now it'll last many many feisty smallies.

@PhishLI & @KP Duty My Abu rod arrived from Sierra via Fed Ex this morning and to be honest I was a bit concerned as the cardboard tube was pretty damaged. I was very happy after I opened the tube and realized that although probably packed directly from Abu Garcia to Sierra the rod itself is in perfect shape and was well protected inside the tube. I hope you both along with anyone else who took advantage of this deal receive your rods in the same condition minus the broken tube.IMG_5133.jpeg.6dd9e4bc1363fd479bdce4a9f0f40419.jpegIMG_5132.jpeg.778e0029603b906d8100fd2dd87ec8b2.jpegIMG_5135.jpeg.e21229f1827d383a24cca6135cb67fce.jpegIMG_5136.jpeg.9b94525d010e40613e1ca53a71474997.jpegIMG_5139.jpeg.5a4db4a8ace4927bf6b07687e65f1ba5.jpegIMG_5138.jpeg.de37c01680323b8d1f0953f1c24fedea.jpeg
