I don’t need any more rods, if anything I’m a bit short on reels. But darn I have the 6’10” MH Veritas in my cart and I’m trying to talk myself out of it. Looks like too good a deal to pass up

Im not going to lie I didn’t need it either but it appears as of now that it was/is too good of a deal to pass up in my opinion. Also a great deal in my opinion is the deal on the Tatula 80 that @Columbia Craw posted and if I could I would definitely grab one. Also in regards to CC’s post they have quite a few deals on fishing gear and I’ll definitely be keeping my eye on them for future purchases.

The rods appear to have arrived intact, but I have no idea where.  I was out running errands with my daughter today and received notification that my package was delivered (after receiving notification yesterday it would be tomorrow).  I excitedly rushed through some of the remaining errands and postponed others to race back home and unwrap my rods.  As I pull into the driveway, I see only a box about 2’x 2’ x 30”.  My daughter says with a chuckle, “I thought you said they were 1pc rods.  It looks like they shipped them in pieces.”  Turns out FedEx delivered a box of cat food.  I checked the notification to make sure I hadn’t misread it.  I find a picture of my rods on a front porch that isn’t mine.   I’ve filed a claim, and the FedEx virtual assistant says they are working on it.  The good news, I guess, is the photo shows undamaged rod tubes standing up in a corner of the wrong porch.

That stinks and I’m sure hoping this has a good ending as in you receive what is rightfully yours and not some lame excuse.

@Banned User That had me laughing out loud. On a serious note I have the exact reel you bought and mine is spooled with 10 pound Suffix Advance Monofilament/ Co-Polymer and it’s seen action on 2 different 7’-0” rods a medium/fast and a 7’-0” med+mod fast rod  and mainly threw bladed jig Mini Max’s and or a Strike King Bitsy Bug Mii Jig in 1/8 ounce and I absolutely love this reel henceforth why I’m so sick I can’t take advantage of this deal currently but I’m keeping an eye on this site for future purchases 😬 Oh and currently I have the Tatula 80 mounted to a 6’-10” med fast KK Speed Demon Pro Attached to a Vision 110 Junior waiting for the weeds to die down a bit with the upcoming cooler weather.

I have mine on a softer 7'3" MHF spooled with 30lb J braid Grand. Throwing mostly flukes and 5" soft stick baits in the junk. Small frogs too. This reel has really grown on me lately.

These have been listed for several months now. Might still be around for a while.

I’m wondering if Daiwa is planning on an upgrade? No matter what I’m definitely keeping my eyes open for the deals as I’ve been wanting to upgrade either my Tat CT or my Tat 100 (previous version) with a current version Tat 100 but there’s just something about it that’s not as comfortable for me as many other reels including the aforementioned Tatula 100 and Tatula CT. I also love reading you have yours mounted on a medium heavy rod as I know you fish way more weed choked waters than I do and aren’t afraid to put it through its paces with 30 pound braid.

Yeah I was tempted and I'm sure its a nice real but I'm pretty much all shimano and just set up to service them etc...he has an SLX XT on the site but kind of high on that one but I have also tagged the site and will keep an eye on it. I was thinking about ordering some of the crosseye chatterbaits but kind of waiting for Dicks to have them on sale and pick up some mini max's...but I am tempted...

Titanium guide train? Hmmmm.
How do these fish vs their rating? Thinking about the 7'6" M for a neko rod. But really can't tell how it would do with a 1/16 oz weight and a roboworm.

I have mine spooled with 12lb Sunline Sniper and sitting on a St Croix Legend Xtreme 7' m/f, using it inshore to throw jigheads with paddletail swimbaits and Owner flashy swimmer underspins with plastics for redfish, flounder and speckled trout.

Side by side, and while it's still a fast, it's definitely a bit more moderate than my Tatula XT 7' MF which has been my finesse trd on a1/16oz ned head rod. Just taking a few casts in the yard it loads fine with that weight. I got the ABU specifically to get a bit more distance with that bait or others in the 5 gram range.

TW has the gen1 bass mafia boxes on sale for about $15 with the mailing list discount. There are a few complaints here and there about the gen ones, mostly if you drop them they don't do well. But just about all the newer hard plastic boxes have the same issue.

Anyway, hard to beat it at that price, it is on clearance and the sale is stacking.

Ended up passing on the Veritas and ordered 2 Tat 80s from Sheltons for 105 a pop, thanks @Columbia Craw for the link and I can’t wait to get em

I feel better not being the only one who took the bait

How'd you go from getting a rod to not getting a rod and getting two reels instead?

Also, what're your plans for the tat80s?

Amazon has Seaguar Smackdown braid, 20 pound test, 300 yard, stealth grey color, for $19.49. This is about the lowest I have seen.

You know I don’t purchase three quarters of my tackle to use on the water.  I just get it so I can post it on show off your stuff. It gives me a dopamine hit, so I’ve got that going for me.

Yeah i caved and ordered some crosseye chatterbaits, like I need more than I have now...but for the price I figured why not.

Thanks, Newapti5, I bit on that one - two rolls or 20# Smackdown coming.

I originally wanted the rod simply because it was a good deal. Anytime a rod is going for over half off it’s hard to pass up. Didn’t necessarily need it though

the reels on the other hand I “needed” (what I really need is to stop buying tackle lol) I was short 2 casters and that was also a good deal. Still also need to get new bearings for my Chronarch Ci4 and gen 1 Tat SV, they aren’t all that smooth even after cleaning.

The Tat 80s are gonna most likely end up on a Legend Tournament 7’2” MHM and 7’2” HM. One for cranks (12lb FC) and one for chatterbaits/spinnerbaits (15-17lb FC)

I ordered the Abu Garcia 7'6" Veritas Tournament spinning rod from Sierra - it arrived today - when I came home and saw it leaning against the front porch, with a pretty good bend to the tube, I thought "Oh, boy" --- there was some damage to the tube (similar to some of the pictures that were shown on this thread) --- but thankfully that was all exterior/surface damage --- the rod was, thankfully, protected by the inner triangular cardboard, a fair amount of packing paper, some zip ties and a plastic cover --- I inspected the rod pretty closely and all the guides look good, no visible signs of cracks/scratches/ect anywhere on the rod --- I look forward to getting a reel on it (I have a Shimano Ultegra I am not currently using so i will try that) and giving it a try this weekend !

Which from where? I did put hybrid bearings in my tat svtw103, I really like the way this thing behaves now. I got them from AE before the tariffs made the rich people richer and wrecked things for us regular folk.

I don't need this reel, but I think that need to have some braid only reels and some hybrid/mono reels. Or maybe I'm just making myself feel better... I needed this, and now every day I wait for the delivery driver by the door

Who originally posted the tat 80 from Shelton clothing? I just looked at their website and realized they are somewhat local to me…about 45 mins. I haven’t bought anything fishing related in almost 2 full months now. Now I have to find a reason to go west a little…
