I stopped by another DSG today and they had the same ones I bought at regular price.  When I asked about it, the sales guy said that each store has different prices and standards for clearance items.  I was kind of bummed as well.

Same for me as well. They had nothing that was a good deal or that even looked good. Maybe one day I’ll drive out for a deal and find it.

Dick's Sporting Goods has an online coupon for $10 off a $50 purchase today (7/2) only.  Combine that with some of their other deals (Teckel Sprinker -- buy 1 get one free; Rapala Rip Stop/Rapala BX brat/Lunkerhunt prop series -- 3 for $20, 5 for $30, or 7 for $40, mix and match; Berkley Powerbait -- 4 for $14 plus rebate; and Yum soft bait/Berkley Havoc -- $2 each when you buy 5 ,mix and match), and it's even better.

My DSG had very complicated sales.  You have to be careful and read the signs.  Seems each brand has a different deal.  Still my favorite brick and mortar store, and on my way to work.

They're not advertising it yet, but Tacklewarehouse's sale is already live.

Heard Skeet Reese mention yesterday that the Pit Boss is moving into the Powerbait line, which is fine for me, means it will fall into the $10 rebate category, and I think the scent is better too.

Do you have a Blains Farm and Fleet near you?  All lures on sale (my local store is chock full of Rapala) and all fishing line on sale (I stocked up on Sufix 832 for $13.99 per 150yds.)  Happy monkeying.

Academy has two types of "Classic Edition" rods. One line is 14.99 and other line is 16.99. Both lines include several lengths, casting and spinning.

 

Here the 16.99 ones ring up 4.98. Casting and spinning.

 

What you're looking for in the part number on the rod itself will have a "TCC". These were 4.98. The 14.99 Classic Edition rods do not have "TCC" on the rod and were not on sale.

I did that deal a while back too.  As a member it's $29 w/ free shipping.  One thing though - I'm pretty sure they're not all 5xd's.  I know the ad says it that way, but the pics show 6 5xd's and 6xd's, and I can't remember for sure exactly what I got, I do have several of those exact baits in my "overstock" bin in 6xd, and I wouldn't have bought them individually. 

I hit DSG again and found 10 more packs of senkos.  They were clearance buy 5 get 5 free.  I picked up the following colors....  Green Flash, Bama Bug, Smoke w/purple and blue flake and watermelon with blue flake, and purple with pearl/blue flake.  With a coupon they came up to $2.85 each.

 

They also had a bunch of stuff that was clearance.  You just kind had to hunt through it all.

I noticed that in the picture, figured they used the wrong pic though. Oh well, they won't go to waste, none the less.

@thinkingredneck in my experience, the main thing that is complicated is the inconsistency in signage from store to store.  However, the sales are usually still there, in the system, and they ring up when you get to the checkout.  So, if other guys are reporting they are having buy 5 get 5 for *.97 items, or Rapalas are $5 each when you buy 3 or more, etc., at DSG, but they don't have the sign up, try taking them to the checkout and you'll often still get the deal.  The stores are not perfect at getting the signs to agree with the sales.

 

That said, if the sign clearly indicates a sale, including the dates, but it still doesn't ring up right, it's worth asking them to honor the signage.

The stores by me have dots on the clearance stuff and the buy 5 get 5 clearly says that dot priced merchandise is excluded. Some of them don't care and honor it, others won't.

Somewhat complicaqted, though.

FishUSA is giving away a free Quantum Throttle reel with the purchase of a St. Croix rod.  Seems like a pretty tempting deal to me at least. 

 

How are St Croix's lower-end rods like the Triumph line? My principal bass rod right now is a Speed Stick combo I got at Walmart for like 60 bucks. Would a St Croix be much of an upgrade?
