They may stock the best brands, but not a full selection of each. Even TW doesn't stock everything. A 'wish-list' I'm making has most of it from TW, but one item I had to go elsewhere - only Amazon and Tackle Direct stock the item...and TD is iffy on quantities stocked.

I’m checking daily for the same thing, got my eye on a couple Lew’s reels, I won’t need them until May at the earliest but I’ll scoop em up as soon as there’s a sale. 

I renewed my membership for BASS and got four pretty good lures with it. About $27 worth which makes it totally worth it with the magazine.

I wouldn't hold your breath on 20%. Next coupon will likely be 10 or 15% tops. 

 

As of January 1st we got sales tax added to all our ebay purcahses in Minnesota. Really sucks.

Slickdeals usually lights up when an ebay coupon is posted, but you just gotta check the main ebay site every day. They always post it on the front page. If you have the ebay mobile app you usually get an alert when there's a sitewide coupon.

Download the eBay app on your phone.  You'll get notifications when there are coupons.

Agreed, I was going to post the same - their BM prices are really high to start with, not much of a deal compared to TW and the other popular online tackle shops...

To answer my own question - others might be interested: as of the week of Feb 4 they've changed to buy 4 get 1 free.

Doesn't make sense if you are trying to actually clear out to effectively ramp up prices.  Even the store personnel thought it was backwards.

 

Pretty sure they meant the leftovers were shipped to a particular DSG or Field and Stream store - they aren't large enough lots (piles of senkos, rage craws - large by the scale of one store, but not by Outlet bait lots standards).

After being impressed with the items DSG had I took a trip to Field and Stream Saturday hoping they even had a better selection.

 

Yep, buy 4 get 1 free and almost zero name brand items included.

Start watching for the Walmart clearance sales! I know last year it was in February that we got most of our clearance fishing stuff at Walmart so if they haven't started yet they should be starting soon.

I know this is a fishing forum but if anybody is interested, Walmart had a ton of hunting/camo stuff on sale near me (including guns).

I get 95% of my gear from TW nowadays. 

I guess it's just being in the Chicago suburbs, but NONE of the sporting good stores around me have a very good selection of fishing gear...went to Dick's a couple weeks ago and their "5 for 5" was limited to an endcap with Lunkerhunt Kraken hard body frogs (already sold out) and a bunch of $12 umbrella swimbait rigs. Walmart is extremely limited while Bass Pro and Cabela's are mostly house brands (if you want any real variety of sizes/weights/actions/powers) and expensive. 95% of my gear is purchased online in general these days.

5+ years ago the DSG around here had decent selections and I bought a ton of clearance stuff.  but it seems the fishing department shrinks by an aisle every year.  ever since I joined this site, I've been buying a lot more stuff online because even BPS and Cabelas dont have all the stuff I want

Wow that's a great deal! I wish they had Academy up here. I visited on in Texas once. Was so jealous of the selection and prices.
