These photos were taken 15 years ago, when the state leased access and campsites on this ranch at Vinegarone.  It was a mecca - you could drive 5 hours and run across friends you hadn't fished with in 5 years.  

Now, the only way to get here is to float in on a 2-day safari with registered float guides - but triple-digit bass numbers are the norm on that float.  

Texas would be part of Mexico if it weren’t for a few Tennessee hillbillies.........

 

Seriously though, beautiful photos. I watched some youngsters do a multi day float on the devils river on YouTube. I was surprised to see smallmouth

I haven't opened it yet but I just got a bag of that one for Christmas. I'm a fan of Freedom Fuel and Coffee Or Die, so I'm presuming this one will be good as well.

Just got an update that mine will show up today. Not bad considering I ordered them Tuesday. 
 

You know it’s winter and the fishing is done  for a few months when a guy checks on shipping progress for rubber bands for his crankbaits. ?

Living on the lake ain’t so half bad. When the wind blows the this white pine makes it all worth while. This Pine makes the lake whisper  to me and I love it!

Well 2021 got off to a great start .Big ice storm . I did get  power back this morning . 

Kya came to us by way of the Lone Star State

but she's adapting quite nicely to her home here in the Wolverine State ~

I’ve got a snow dog myself. Rachel puts a jacket on her like she’s cold. She tries (successfully) to shake it off all day

Nice looking pup. Our two knuckleheads just came in from about an hour of constant digging and wrestling in the snow here. Both are completely soaked, dead tired and couldn’t be happier.
