What Do You Bring For Lunch on the Water?

Featured Replies

If I go all day , I start with Coffee and a breakfast samwich.

I usually take peanut butter nabs and a snicker bar. I usually get by with that unless my son brings me a samwich of some kind. Plenty of waters, and a cold Coke Zero for the ride home along with some peanuts.

If It’s just a “ 3 hour trip “ or so I usually just take some sweet tea in a thermal type cup.

Pizza (the $3 frozen kind), small bag of chips, Powerade, water, and maybe a few Natty Ice.

Ok, I'll bite. Frozen pizza? Cook it on the deck in the sun or eat it frozen/thawed?  ?

Natty Ice and frozen pizza. Lunch of champions

Patience.

Tried that once - gave me indigestion and gas.

Bank fishing with backpack - water for sure. Water is heavy but gotta have it - kinda sucks really ;) Food is light.

Beyond that I take whatever I feel like or have around. Cliff bars, sandwich, what's left of my burrito (I'm not afraid to eat food that's been in my backpack), PB, chips, whatever. Banana. Bag for my trash, and other people's too sometimes.

I totally don't mind stopping fishing for food. Sometimes I need a break and having something to eat is the reason I do it (I need to for tendinitis but often forget).

I like to look around at the sights. Had my camera on yesterday and videoed two geese floating in front of me, then suddenly they took off and it was a cool thing to watch later in slo-mo.

Dude if I'm not catching fish I'm at least going to have some chow. Plus I get hungry hiking and fishing!

I take a Granola bar and a number of bottles of water...all too often, the Granola bar is the same one that goes out with me the next time

This, almost all the time. That granola bar slides down to the bottom of the bag and I forget it’s in there until I unpack at home

I usually bring a sandwich and a bag of chips.  I'll almost always forget about eating it till the drive home in my truck.

For all day fishing trips several items from this list..

Meat wrapped in a tortilla

boiled eggs

can of mixed nuts

fruits

vegetables

water

For half day fishing trips...

Mexican restaurant where a beer or two is consumed after ordering off the menu.

Honestly I usually never bring any food so I don’t happen to have to

poop ? while out on the water.. I do bring Gatorade and plenty of water though to stay hydrated..

The first time I fished with one of my buddies I brought a bunch of cookies and offered him some. He says “no thanks, I’m like a goose. If I eat, I s***” hahahaha

Well... one of the things I learned in college is that I really like Chef Boyardee spaghetti straight from the can..

I typically carry some waters with propel powders, a diet coke or 2, and a sandwich or can of spaghetti.  I always keep Payday bars in the boat and golf bag.  Great protein and they don't melt in the sun.  Excellent for an energy boost with no crash.  That's of course if I'm fishing all day.

I don't fish while I'm eating.  I like to find a nice shady spot back in a cove and sit down and relax while I absorb nature.

tin of sardines and crackers

I second the sardines!

Usually nothing. Sometimes beer. If I get hungry, we go grab some fast food or something.

When on the water, I tend to forget all about food until I'm overwhelmed by hunger pangs.

My wife packs the lunch, and I always tell her that she brings too much.

My usual mid-afternoon snack is a hard-boiled egg, PBJ sandwich or chicken leg.

That will hold me until dinner time, when I'll make up for any shortfall.

Interesting the talk about not touching food after touching fish or stuff.....I'm much more cautious off the water than on.

If I am going all day (12+ hours) I will take anti diarrheal pills and then proceed not to eat all day.

For a 3 hour bank fishing session I bring water and a nut butter filled Clif Bar.

For a 5 hour kayak trip it’s the same but double the water and bars.

When I fish on my Father In Law’s boat I have a couple of Turkey Sandwiches in sandwich bags, Gatorade and Trail mix.

I eat lightly . Make sure I have something for breakfast and then usually take some turkey sticks and snicker bars for blood sugar . Those turkey sticks are available at Aldis and wal-Mart . They are excellent .Better than beef .   .... a Mountain Dew , bottle of water and a six pack of Natty's .

Subway or Firehouse sub and a diet Doctor Pepper.

PJs and banana, water and coffee(if I want to stay over 8 hours)That is my food. But man I have couple older fishing body, they bringing everything from olive and tomato and all kind of greens and boiled eggs and salami and ETC... I mean everything. next time ill take picture of their lunch on shore, this guys three of them 250 years old plus, I always enjoy fishing with them and I learn a lot from them. also they fish to eat, and I am catch and release guy, you imagine the feeling of guilt I have when I aim releasing my fish back and the feel of guilt they might have when they put their catch in bag, LOL.

It’s funny how all of you guys are trying so hard not to poop on the water. Just this Saturday I had to beach the boat twice and make a trip to the woods, usually just hang over the side of the boat and drop it but I was on a small body of water with like 20 other people so that wasn’t happening. I never leave the house without some TP, never know when it’s gonna sneak up on you.

Yup...always carry "Mountain Money in the boat" universal currency...like above said ... ya never know when it will be needed.

Off to the lake this morn...whooohoooo

Large bologna for both of us with fresh oatmeal/frosting cookies.  Sardines...and a stop by probably Bojangles.

And hopefully some tugs on the line....Watts...here we come.....Praise God...another day on the water....
