I have been making baits off and on since 1987 but never made any inline spinners. This year I spent a lot of time fishing from the bank due to my boat being in the shop since June. Hope to make some for fishing the creek that is full of different fish. Allen Its a great multi-specie bait, in creeks and rivers they always work. Just a matter of twisting wire, and playing around with color for different conditions. I really like about a 1/4 oz for bass. Here is some more recent makes;
MassBass
Any thoughts on this spinnerbait? I have always tinkered with and customized spinnerbaits, but this is the first I have made, from a pre made frame.

Super User Munkin Posted October 15, 2022 Author Super User Share Posted October 15, 2022 A lot better than my first one for sure. Two suggestions; move the skirt further up on the head, and turn the swivel around. Moving the skirt up is just an aesthetic thing. Swivel will spin easier if turned around the other way. detroit1
I will add to what allen said. The wire bend that holds the swivel needs to be changed. That's a weed grabber what you have now.
Super User LrgmouthShad Posted October 16, 2022 Super User Share Posted October 16, 2022 Made a tied spinnerbait. Very crude tying. I will try and get some more equipment and learn the finer points of tying, but believe this should hold up fine. Skirt is medium grade round rubber + strands of flashabou for accent.

So are you not supposed to twist the frame wire, just crimp it and put a bead or sleave over it? The spinnerbait was acting strange in the water, maybe it is because of the blade swivel having a hard time.

Just grab a little short of the end of the wire with also some of the pliers out in front of the wire, and loop the wire in one motion back onto itself then adjust as needed so there is no gap. The round nose is essential for making the loop nice and neat, but crude pliers will work fine too with a little more work. I can’t guess why your bend would cause your spinnerbait to behave like you say, though. Dunno. Your method of looping seems okay but it is more than is needed and will also grab weeds as others mention.

If it isn't running right try bending the wire coming out of the head more torward the hook. Allen

Bdnoble84
Possibly the prettiest hair jig I’ve ever tied. See if the smallies and walleye agree this afternoon hopefully.
MassBass
Made these for clear water conditions. Black lures catch fish, no exception with the spinner.

MassBass
This is a successful spinner bait pattern that I rebuilt onto a new frame with new hook and trailer hook. It's single willow.
Super User Cgolf Posted December 4, 2022 Super User Share Posted December 4, 2022 Made 3 1/4 spins, 2 for me and one to gift. Really looking forward to trying the triple wide willow. A 1/2 ounce version of the triple wide willow was really good to me this year.

The top two will work really well, Baitfish colors like that are the top producer for me in clear water. Be careful with the bottom one getting the front blade too close to the Rbend? Honestly I don't think that front blade will spin and most likely just flop back and forth. I ran into this problem myself which is why I mention it. I would also recommend metal beads at least behind the clevic. The clevic is metal and rotating on plastic it will eventually wear into the plastic stopping the rotation. I have 800 metal beads sitting under the Christmas tree right now, so new builds in the future will be with metal. I just measured the triple and there is 1/4” to the R bend. If the lead blade doesn’t spin I will pull it off and just go with a double. Then I will have to try another and not trim any wire of to get the right spacing. Super User Cgolf Posted December 5, 2022 Super User Share Posted December 5, 2022 Last spinnerbaits before I get a restock on frames and components. Really looking forward to ball bearing swivels with the split rings already on them. one for me and one for the father in law as a gift. Really liking the skirt on these. Picked up a 5 pack of these pre made firetiger skirts. 1/2 ounce spins #3 Indiana and #5 Colorado.
wisconsin heat
Tied up some hogs this weekend. Still working on how to incorporate hair and feathers into the skirts. I like the bucktail on the chatterbait, but I feel like the craft feather in the jig didn’t turn out as I had originally hoped.

I think the bucktail in the red and white one isnt bad, although i like to flair mine out alittle more. I dont know if it makes a difference though. I like tying rabbit zonker trailers personally. You can go single for more of a leach/worm profile or double for a craw. You can palmer a body in as well if you like. Me personally. I go less skirt strands so the hair has more room to undulate. @Smalljaw has a couple nice hybrid jig how to’s if you go to youtube.
