How do you fix your corn on the cobb?

Sometimes I’ll cut the kernels off and mix a liberal amount with Pico de Gallo as a side salad or relish.  Good stuff.

Interesting you mention this. My wife just had a customer they other day tell her the other day she loves regular field corn. She boils it in sugar water I guess. Interesting.

I've lived in Iowa for 21 years and never knew this was a thing

I never boil it anymore since I discovered this method.

Boiled or microwaved ( boiled preferred though), with some butter and a bunch of ground pepper.

Fire roasted. The Minnesota State Fair (which starts in a week) has a dedicated stand that only sells fire roasted corn on the cob. It’s by far one of the most popular food stands there.

Probably right behind the Mini-Donuts... :D

White corn boiled with butter and salt

My son in law plants a big patch of " honey and pearl," sweet corn each year. Just tonight, he said someone wrapped some in bacon and cooked  on a charcoal grill. 1 slice of bacon per ear. Said it was super good.

That's not really a fair test of the corns quality. You could wrap a dog turd in bacon and it would be pretty good...bacon is cheating!

Cream corn is the best but I would never attempt to make it myself. Ideally you would want someone around the age of 80 cooking it. Doesn’t qualify for corn “on” the cob but man it’s good

It might be a small town thing.  My grandparents farm was in Morehead, Iowa which at the time was a town of 300.  My Great Aunt/Uncle farmed in Castana, Iowa, my Great Grandparents farmed in Turin, Iowa.  For a while I lived in Fremont, Iowa which is between Ottumwa and Oskaloosa.  My place had an orchard and about a 1 acre garden.  All my neighbors would get together on my place and “put up” all sorts of fruits and vegetables. They helped maintain the orchard and we all shared in the bounty.  We also put up field corn then.  Some of the farmers that don’t like to eat field corn call it pig corn.

I think there is a reason it's called pig corn.

Post a pic of turd cooking and you eating and I'll take your word for it.

I just soak in water and grill. A co worker shucks the corn, olive oil and garlic, salt and pepper, wraps in foil and grills. I haven't tried it yet but it sounds good.
