Mono Pound test for chatterbait

Featured Replies

What is a good all around pound test mono for fishing a Chatterbait on a Medium Heavy rod.

I don’t fish CB with mono but if I did, It would be with 15-20lb.

15 is more then enough.

I fish 14 or 17 lb elite mono depending on the rod I use and the cover I’m in. Mostly it’s 17.

Depending on where you're fishing it, 15-20. I prefer braid for CB's.

I like to use the lightest line that I can get away with. On bladed jigs, it's usually 12 lb mono for me.

15-17

14 lb mono. If I'm fishing in open water, I'll drop down to 10 or 12 lb mono.

15+ not for strength reasons but assadine bass fishing culture puts stupid heavy gauge hooks on baits, specifically baits that aren't even in heavy cover (chatterbait) so you have to go heavy mono or a low stretch lines.

10-12 lbs for mono and flouro on MH rod

Another reason I make my own. I use a 5/0 Gammy straight shank. Medium wire. Plenty strong and needle sharp.
