I thought so too, @Blue Raider Bob. However, since @cheezyridr looks just like Lurch and he approaches pond owners for permission to fish, I'm wondering how that goes.

My guess is he gets permission to fish wherever he wants and doesn't have to ask twice!

hahahaha   ?  i wasn't always this ugly!  i got old, and the whole ball of yarn unraveled one night in my sleep.

but i will tell you the trick i used to get permission to fish the private places.  i used to offer free labor.  if they needed help doing something here and there, i'd work the whole day, or however much of a day they needed. i also always carried a trash bag in my belt loop, and would pick up any trash i found, on my way out.  these days i'm too old and broken to be useful, so i can't use that method anymore. but a day or two per season, per fishin hole, was all it took for people to understand i wasn't a psycho, and would respect their property.  lots of times i went home after, with free produce they gave me at the end of the day, sometimes they fed me lunch, and i got to know honest, hard working people. some of them turned me on to other good fishin holes, and vouched for me to those owners

That trick works about 90% of the time.    I've done a lot of work to fish people's lakes.

@AlabamaSpothunter and @cheezyridr, I bake pecan chocolate chip cookies if I have to cross private land to reach a bog or swamp.

Thanks for being a good sport when I teased you, @cheezyridr!

Duck River near Henry Horton State Park, middle Tennessee. The water is clearing up and soon it will be river time! I've got to shovel mud off the ramp before that can happen. Every time the river rises, it leaves a coating of mud. Nature makes me work for my leisure!

A shot from my drone of Mousam lake in Southern Maine. 4.5 miles long. One in a string of 22 lakes in the immediate area. My avatar picture is a shot of it from my front door as I live on this lake.

Bass, crappie, pickeral, And Salmon and trout in the spring after fall stocking.

Lake Beltrami, Minnesota

While Bemidji was my main 'fishing hole' when I lived up there...I have fished Beltrami, Turtle, Little Bass and Big Bass on several occasions.

Part of my open water SCUBA training was in Big Bass.

Some days, I miss living up there.
