my truck is loaded for tomorrow.  hitting my secret lake was the plan.  I just googled it and my entire area is 100% rain.  with lightning.  

 

I just don't love bobbing around in a kayak in a downpour. with thunder and lighting?  hard no.   it isn't fun for me.  so, I will unload my truck later today.  bummed?  yea.  but on the bright side, the lake is getting a refresh with water, and that is awesome.  

 

this past spring, was the weirdest ever.  fish patterns of past was gone.  nothing was the same.  brutal rains filled lakes with floating trees, brown water and junk.  lakes were DEEP!  I think one more gentler wet winter, and this spring is gonna be fire.  that is the hope.

 

bring the rain!!  but if anyone almighty-like is listening...tuesday/wednesday rain events would be much much better for me.  jus saying.

 

maybe get some water back to my favorite launch.  hahah

 

 

right now the air temps are too cold for me to think about fishing in the rain.  now come summer time, as long as it isn't thundering, I will most likely head out unless it is absolutely dumping because no mater what gear you have, you wo't be comfortable all day. Then there is also having to sry out all your **** when you get home too....not my favorite thing to do

 

I’m a big fan. Yeah it’s wet and uncomfortable but it gets the big ones eating shallow.

Difference between rain and storm is wind with lightning.

When I see something like this, time to split! I don't mind fishing in the fall fronts that come down weekly here in south Florida, not much lightening to deal with, just a lot of wind and rain. Now, when it comes to summertime lightening, I don't play around with that and wouldn't ever recommend going out when it's flashing everywhere. It'll kill ya, for sure.

I hate fishing in the rain. I usually won’t do it at all. I do love some high water river fishing though.

I specifically target rainy days in the summer time if I'm able to.  One, low pressure which usually means a better bite.  Two, there's far less people on the lake and virtually no recreational boaters.

 

A light steady rain is ideal.  Obviously not a thunderstorm with high winds and lightning.

A slight rain or drizzle. Awesome.

Fish all fronts even cold & torrential rains lightning .. but never in a boat of any kind.

I like fishing in the rain. Lightning is a no go .

Tapped out.  It’s torrential!   I bet the road is rutted galore. 

Depends on what kind of rain. Best day I ever had was with dark clouds signalling the coming rain; no wind and rain was light.

I was fishing, couldn’t buy a bite, I saw that a rain was coming, felt the pressure drop. The bite turned on, I mean it was one bite after another. I was using the same bait, fishing the same area. 
so I did like fishing in the rain, ass long as it’s warm too

It's rare that I would even get a chance to fish in the rain.  Usually, when it rains around here, it comes with high winds and lightning.  Even if you don't get the high winds and lightning at first, they can, and often do, pop up randomly.  Our weather here is just too unpredictable and severe to reasonably take chances on most rainy days.   

 

I mean, my house has been struck by lightning three times.  I should move, right?  Well I have.  That was three different houses!

I fish in lightning but I'm around alot of forest timber I wouldnt even think about fishing in lightning in the open plains of the midwest..safety first.

I have some safety thresholds that I’m not prepared to cross as there is respect for the power of storms. I want to enjoy all my angling adventures and there are those times where it is not good to be exposed. These days as I get older I make sure I’ve got an exit strategy at the ready because the conditions out here in AZ can change rapidly. 

 

Depending on conditions, I will fish in less than nice weather while safe. Once things turn bad, I’m leaving. So there is a battle of conflicting interests, valuable precious limited time to go fishing, and the need to be safe. 

 

I have not noticed a difference in fish catching quality during either fair or poor weather conditions. I just know I’m having fun taunting fish.

Cold weather with a light drizzle doesn't bother me.  When we get a hard rain this time of year I will go fishing if the rain is off and on.  Add some wind to the hard rain and I don't even consider going out.

I'll fish in cold, I'll fish in rain, and I'll fish in wind. I won't fish in all 3 haha. 2/3 is my limit. If it's below 50 degrees the wind and rain make it miserable if they're not biting. 

 

Now if they ARE biting that's a different story 🤣. I'll fish till my hands go numb.

You never know when conditions will change...... Warm & wet is ok. Cold and wet is a no go for me.

 

Edit - I really dislike rain when I'm rigging up or breaking down my yak.

I don't like rain while I'm fishing, unless it's really light and passes quickly. Yeah I know my rod and reel will survive it, but I just don't like the feeling of everything wet and a reel covered in water while reeling the line in. I also don't like the idea of the cork on the handle getting soaked all the way through....just gives me uneasy feelings about the whole thing. I admit when it comes to my equipment i tend to baby it. That is just my personal feeling about it

Nothing wrong in babying your gear. Gear is expensive and an abused rod or reel failing could be the difference between landing a PB or dropping it. On another level, gear that is well taken care of adds a level of confidence to the equation. I feel that is equally important.
