New to Bass Fishing

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone!

Getting ready to be 40 this year and have mostly just trout fished my whole life other than messing around with the occasional farm pound etc....

I got a cheap kayak at the end of last year and have fallen in love with bass fishing. I'm getting a sit-on-top later this year as the cheap kayak is not good on my back!!

Welcome aboard! If I at all can offer any good advice would be to get those things that are going to be top notch for your intended usage, even though they may cost a lot more. Get them now because, in the long run, I've seen folks spend twice as much achieving what they could've gotten in the first place for half the cost.

Thank you for the advise. That is definitely the route that I'm going. I'm more of a buy once cry once kind of person.

Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida.
There a lot of kayaker’s and canoe people on here too, they have some really nice rigs.

Welcome! :)

Welcome to Bass Resource! I am also in WV and fish the Upper Potomac. I’m in Falling Waters, I assume you live in the Eastern Panhandle somewhere?

So much fun awaits you. And so many thrills!

Your years of chasing trout should help.

Smallies are alot like trout but add a touch more drag and watch out for the aerial assaults.

It's a blast on the river!
