Discontinued Lures

Featured Replies

We've all been there - a favorite, maybe lesser known offering or casualty of the new offering gets discontinued.  Whole company goes under (or gets bought out by Rapala). Bargain bin blowouts ensue.  Your stock runs low (if you stocked up).  Replacements are impossible to find or priced to the point you aren't going to use them anymore.

What are some of your "wish I still had a pile of X" baits?

Couple of mine:

Storm Subwarts - particularly Size 05's.  Down my last several after getting bit off last Friday.

Rapala Long Cast Minnow - sleeper, don't know anyone that has any in the box and few that remember them.  They don't do much, they don't look all that special.  They are killers in certain situations. Down to 7 of these.

Terminator T1s - miss the durability of these in pike country, not so much I think they caught fish any better than others.

With Rapala gutting 13 Fishing offerings I laid into a supply of Warthog 60's when TW had them on super sale for like $3.50 at the end of last month.

If any of you have some stocked away let me know. All the ones I find on ebay are colors I dont think anyone wants (including me).

7 inch Senko in June bug.  June bug is one of the most popular colors for soft plastics, but I can't find them in the 7 inch size.  Maybe some place other than TW has them I don't know.  I ran out last year and now I use black and blue.  They work well but I always wonder if the June bug would work better.

7" Rage Tail Thumper.  They aren't regularly better than Rage Bug or CutR.  But when they are, it can be dramatic.  Culprit is probably closest substitute; quite a bit different tho

The SK Spence Scout. Poes had a version too.  Bring it back.

Rebel Wee R.  I loved those little dudes. The models with cross hatch finishes were my favorites:

The YUM Zellamander.  I have less than 20 left. It is my smallmouth Carolina rig killer.

Yakima Baits Hawg Boss Crankbaits (responsible for my PB), Original Mister Twister lizards, Rebel Jointed minnow in original patterns, BPS Spring Lizards, Mister Twister Slither Worms.

Zoom Z-nail and the Storm Sub-Wart.

Another vote for

Storm Subwart

Terminator Spinnerbait

Luckily I stocked up on both so I have a decent quantity of both.

Rapala can go pound sand. They aren’t getting any more of my business.

Manns manipulator worm in the 5". Gene Larew Salt craw plum/silver claws and black silver flake/chartreuse claws. Those were money. And then the Hales craw worm.....junebug was a killer

  • Super User

Manns Kangaroo grubs in white.

Berkeley Powerbait Mud Critter in GP or Black.

Some of the stuff people mentioned above I have.  When I start my annual winter tackle cull I will reach out to whoever posted looking for something. I will be open to trades for stuff.

There was a soft plastic lipless crankbait that Mann's used to make. That thing was money.

I personally love these threads because I know what to look for at lil local shops with random stuff!

Gotta cast my vote for the Mann's Baby -1 and the Jelly Worms.  I'll never not buy those when I see them at a small tackle shop.

Got a special place in my heart for the Terminator frogs and spinnerbaits.  Both very high quality offerings that would be nice to see rebooted by American Baitworks or something like that.

I used to get the Riverside brand of soft plastics. They made some good stuff. Long gone now.

Are those things done now too?  I've got a couple still in the original packaging but I haven't been on a frog bite in years.

You can still buy Jelly Worms. I keep the blackberry 8" on me all the time. 20pk for under $7 is a steal and they get bit like crazy.
