  1. What is this red, delta red color for spring? Is it a thing? I just have a few different cranks in this funny shad pattern ?
  2. Congratulations @Dirtyeggroll on the new addition to your family and he’s apparently deep in thought about that first fishing trip….
  3. I have to agree with everything previously mentioned and say a cellphone. I kinda think this is a pretty invaluable tool due to its ability to summon help if needed on or off the water, mine has tidal and wind apps and being able to take pictures of your fish. Scale, orange boating flag, and a throw cushion as well.
  4. Would I purposefully keep a spawning fish @gimruis? Absolutely, if I’m fishing a bass tournament or catching a few fish to put some food on the table. Otherwise, I practice catch and release. In the latest issue of BASS magazine there’s an article about Spencer Fullerton Baird, the first Commissioner of Fish and Fisheries for the U.S. Fish Commission. He is primarily responsible for stocking “food” fish throughout the United States for its growing population. Amongst the stocked food fish mentioned in the article were bass, salmon, shad, striped bass, and of course the ever popular carp. * In 1871 President Ulysses S. Grant appointed Baird Commissioner.

  8. I caught my first fish when I was about 3 years old on a cane pole in the Philippines. I probably caught my first bass also on a cane pole and bobber a few years later from a pond in North Carolina. As an adult, I discovered bass fishing in the California delta, that it wasn’t a place out in the boonies to only catfish. I got my first boat, an affordable Caddis U-shape float tube, neoprene waders, vest and flippers. With the help of the tidal current to cover water, it was a one rod deal (spinning or baitcast) for me. The tube taught me to “fish the fish”, cause I couldn’t pull up the trolling motor go find more cooperative fish. And now I get to go chase those little green fish or just go fishing whenever I like ? * Oh yeah, my total years fishing is over half a century ?
  9. @schplurg, there’s a public pier near the Rio Vista bridge to wet a line. I’ve fished over there once, and I think it’s was roughly this time of year. We dropped the boat in at the Rio Vista public ramp and ran up to Liberty Island. Mayberry Slough would be the ideal place, but it’s pretty much off limits.
  10. @Jonald, I’d say two up front on the bow flipping/pitching or chuckin’ and winding, one on the rear deck. Next thought is how much boat one can afford for a 20-22ft boat IMHO…

  13. As I remember Al used to say back in the day, “Just win baby”. And Jimmy has continued to do just that. Go Niners!
  14. I hope those Zoom baits in Junebug aren’t brush hogs, ‘cause they don’t work in the Delta ?. And in Cali we call ‘em June bugs as well. At least I do when those corn nut size little bugs are bouncing off the facade of my house on those warm summer evenings…
  15. Something you don’t see every day when most people are out walking their dog in the neighborhood park…
  16. Well @Bird, I finally bit the bullet and got a pair of prescription sunglasses with progressive, blended bi-focal lenses. I just got tired of always having to take off my sunglasses and put on my prescription glasses or readers to retie. I went with Costas with green mirror and copper lenses. And yes, they were pretty spendy. *as a side note, I had to ask optometrist for the original Costa lenses which came with the glasses. He was kinda surprised by my request, saying nobody ever asks for them….
  17. @FishinBuck07, I had a similar questions and went with a Trick-Step boarding ladder on my old boat, an ‘04 Ranger 520VX. Just like their installation video mentioned, I was able to mount the Trick-Step boarding ladder by myself in roughly 20 minutes. The unit was solid, well made and definitely did the job for which it was intended.
  18. Come on fellas, they caught all those fish to help out with the fish fry at their local church
  19. I’ve got two different first aid kits in the boat, Krazy glue for those painful little cuts I get in the corners of my thumb/thumbnail area and for the past 2+ years a small spray bottle of hand sanitizer to be used after fueling the truck and boat….
  20. Wow @KSanford33, that is a very interesting question that is sorta difficult to answer for me. Pretty much depends on what time of the year or what stage of the spawn the bass are in. Now for my next trip out in the next week or so I’ve got four different jerkbait rods, two crankbait rods, a spinnerbait rod, a swimbait and an A-rig tied on. A jig and a big ole senko will also be in the boat. Granted, I just want to have catch ‘em on one rod all day. It’s just the process of elimination to get to that one rod/technique that gives me the most trouble ?
  21. @TnRiver46 and yes I do remember your comments on Jennings earlier in the season. The Niners just can’t keep him off the field ‘cause he just keeps making plays. And congrats to your Titans, they just keep getting in done every week and it paid off with that #1 seeding.
  22. Shameless bump Paul? Nah, not at all…. I think we’re all happy to help with this cause and keep it relevant in the eyes of the Bass Resource community.
  23. What is this the 3rd or 4th packaging change? As long as baits are made the same (and hopefully made in the same location) I don’t care how “modern” the “updated” packaging looks ‘cause they catch fish.
  24. I’m still trying to figure out why I bought a Color-C-Lector and all plastics for it. Can’t believe some pro or television personality could have influenced that purchase ?…
  25. I’m gonna say it’s a very COLD bass with a hand warmer ?
