  1. I like to start out with something new and when it doesn’t work I revert back to “tried and true”. All so if I take someone that doesn’t fish much, I go places and use what I know what works, I want them to catch fish.
  2. Wow @Ski thanks

  5. Thoughts and good vibes coming your way. You must take care of yourself, so you can take care of Mrs Jim. Try and remember, she can feel your mood and attitude too. A lot of information is going to get dumped in your lap, and it will be a lot to process. Cancer centers are real good about giving you hard copies on what going on. I carried a notebook to take notes, plus it gave me a place to doodle will waiting. You’ll do alot of that, just waiting was frustrating. PM, if ya need to chat. G

I can understand, I’ll find another place to fish before I try and skip a baitcaster again. Haha

I skip with a 6’6” med/ fast rod with a spinning reel, I can’t skip a bait caster with out it poofing up on me. I mostly use with a wacky rigged, senko style baits, or creature bait around docks.

Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida.
  13. I’m not a woman but I highly respect the determination of a woman who was hard as nails when it came to fishing, my Grandmother. I remember seeing her with ice sickles formed on the bill of her hat, lake fishing for trout. She refused quit, when you went fishing with her, you were in for the duration. The family joke was “ pack a lunch, or two, she going fishing.”
  14. I was raised in Wv, I was a member of a club called Trout Unlimited. We would backpack fingerlings way back in the hills and repopulate trout streams. Usually after that we hike over to another stream and fish it, bringing just food not to starve to death. Then fish for a few days, catching smallies and trout, while hiking to the pick up point. I remember coming across beautiful places to fish and camp. I think being raised in the backwoods and spending so much time in nature, when I went in the service and was Recon, I felt at home in the woods. Now I take my little boats and go in the Ocklawaha and search for those hard to reach places and fish.
  15. Hi from the Sunshine State of Florida, cut my teeth on trout fishing. Then wading for smallies in Nc, now in Fl chasing bass. You won’t be sorry signing up in this forum, tons of information here.
  16. Kudos to you @scaleface, when are ya heading back out? You have to give us a report on if the worms work for ya
  17. I can go fishing, not catch a thing and it’s still a good day, I’ll say I didn’t catch a thing with a smile. I love the whole fishing thing, the casting, tackle, the gear, working on it, everything. I’m have piece of mind and feel relaxed when fishing.
  18. I can vouch for this^, I have always spooled the way it came off the factory spool, that’s the way I was taught. One time I did it wrong, didn’t notice it until I was finished. I figured I could put conditioner on it for a while. That reel just wasn’t right, it seemed to poof up at the end, line never seem tight on the reel, didn’t cast right ether. Wether it was subconscious, that I knew it was spooled backwards or what. I replaced the line and all was good.

  20. The improved clinch for mono, palmar for braid.
  21. I hate it when that happens, relapse…. Oh well, sounds like you stocked up on some tackle, and have a new rod. You did get a chicken sandwich too…. At least you didn’t go without food and spend that money on gear too, there’s hope. Didn’t mention what power on the rod,med-hvy, 6 or 7 footer?
  22. I have a pm10s Daiwa, try to resize the pictures to post. I tried it, not bad reel, but it’s right handed.
  23. People never cease to amaze me.
  24. This is why I don’t like braid, I can hear it going thur the eyes. Whrrrrrrr! Remember the string and the tin can telephone? How it transmits the sound along the string, do ya think maybe the fish can hear it too, or at least sense it thru their lateral line. Now I know I’ve caught plenty of fish on straight braid, but maybe a confidence thing like putting sharpie your line thing.
