They are solid, proven work horse reels. They're smooth and you can upgrade them easily for little cost. Fish one and in time you'll understand why guys love them. The thing about plastic drag star is that if you break one you're way too rough on your gear. If you're that rough on your stuff, you might as well buy $30 bait casters and throw them out each season. I treat my gear very good and I have Curados over 4 years old that look brand new and perform flawlessly. They both do not have the plastic drag star but wouldn't really bother me to be honest if they did. The plastic drag star is a bit blown out of proportion in my eyes. I have other brands with plastic stars and have never had issues with them. If you're fishing a reel below Curado price point, you're more than likely fishing with more plastic than Curado users anyway.

I don't believe anyone said it was a must. There are guys who have confidence in it and like to offer their success in using a snell to others. I use both a snell and a palomar for fishing needs. From my experience I have better hook ups snelling while punching than I do if I use a palomar. So, that's the way I'm going to show/teach someone if they ask based off my personal success. If you have better success using palamor while punching, that is great too. You can teach/preach it that way. Some of your remarks come off as others being inferior to you and your infinite knowledge in bass fishing. I enjoy reading many of your posts but jeesh man, relax a tad. It's just fishing.

I am willing to bet the drag spring is worn out not applying enough pressure to the drag. If you have had the reel a long time and had your drag tight without ever backing off of it while storing the reel, the drag spring could be shot. It happened to one of my reels long ago. It doesn't sound like a spool or slipping issue especially with fluoro on it. The other possibility would be your drag washers are way over greased.

The mobile site itself for the forums is pretty good as is in my opinion. The one thing I'd like to know from Glenn, can the Quoting on the mobile site be altered? When I see quotes using my phone (android) they're not highlighted and are compacted into a straight paragraph of text. I just see two sweeping arrows on quoted posts, and it can be confusing as to what someone is saying vs quoting. Especially when some people respond in front of quotes instead of afterwards. If future changes to the mobile site are in order, that'd be my only request. Not a huge deal if it is the way it is.

I gave up on Trokar because it tore my plastics to all heck. Especially punching in garbage despite the fact they are crazy sharp and penetrate easily. I went to Denny Brauer (Mustad) flipping hooks and couldn't be happier with those. Haven't tried the VMC's but they get decent reviews. I still have a few Trokar and for some reason to me, it looks like yours is bent inward too much. I don't recall mine being like that.

Ask for a complete refund and buy them else where. Explain that you want a refund purely from the shipping costs they're pushing onto you. Most likely they'll cave and waive the shipping but for them to send in 3 packages is stupid.

6'8 M/xf avid for skipping and weightless plastics and a Rage 6'10 mlxf for drop shot. I love both and they serve their purposes great. Problem with me is I don't use spinning gear enough. Im a power junky.

1/2 oz-3/4oz spring lock gammy swimbait hook or an owner beast hook. You need to let it fall and count it down depending on your weight size. You can test rate of fall next to the boat or off a pier even.

I'd suggest showing up when doors open if you're trying to capitalize on this deal. These reels will be found on auction sites and flea markets for less in due time. It's a great deal, but there are always better.

Bass Trakk is based off what the marshals report in. Sometimes they can't be reached by cellphone or whatever communication they use. So it only gets updated as the folks in the War room receive info. Everything is tentative, and nothing is confirmed numbers. It's still better than sitting here thinking about who has caught what. Over all, it's pretty darn close every Elite tournament I've watched via bassmaster.com. The actual boat positioning wont be broadcasted until the final day of the tournament by the anglers request this year. That I understand completely.

I really enjoyed the GoPro footage of practice and all the guys looking over their shoulders every time they set the hook just to see if anyone was watching. BASS coverage is getting a little better each year. It was great to listen in while working today.

Awesome review and great to hear! I'm awaiting the DX 745 and I have a Core 100Mg7 for it. Pretty close to the same set up so that is awesome to hear. This will be my dedicated jig rod setup as well. Frog Turds talked me into the DX, so it's his head if it doesn't pan out. Thanks for the review Teal.
