Heavy downpours on and off all day, finally clearing around 7pm. Went to the closest spot not certain what to expect. Water level had risen several inches, but not overly stained. Halfway expected a super shallow bite, but that didn’t appear to be the case. Only caught 7, one of which was on the bank. Everything else was sitting at least off the weedline or deeper. Don’t think fish have settled in good yet. Got 3 on vibrating jig, 2 on finesse jig and 2 on Ned.

 

 

 

Got a decent one right off the bat this evening then only dinks. My buddy’s dog was trying to eat them all as we brought them into the boat. Barely dodged a lot of lightning and got a cool cloud photo 

I almost didn't go because it was supposed to storm all day. Almost decided to just stay close to the house because of all the storms that were coming. Decided just to make the drive and fish a better lake and take the chance. Never saw a single flash of lightning on the water and it never rained hard enough for me to stop and put on my rain gear, and I caught my biggest limit I've ever caught from my kayak at 97" (18.25+18.75+19.50+20.25+20.25). Not only that, but I caught over 50 throughout the day. They were eating a tube really well, but I was going through so many that I decided to switch to a jig towards the end of the day to see if I could still get a few bites and save some baits. I got bit my first two flips and ended up catching my second 20.25" fish of the day on it. The only other boat on the water left early because they weren't biting ?‍♂️

The Big Bite Baits craw tube has some mysterious drawing power on big fish for me. I went through a majority of a 25pk of the Hematoma color Sunday.

it was a beautiful day outside, first comfortable morning sine June. I would have saved myself a lipless crankbait and a couple gallons of gas by sleeping in. they didn't want me today.

That thumb! You know you're getting size when you get bass thumb all the way down on your palm. My best numbers day was 43 and my thumb was nowhere near that shredded, that's a KILLER day.

 

 

Meanwhile, I picked up a few H2OX lipless cranks today at Academy, they look like a cross between a RES and a Booyah, 2.5" long but 5/8oz. They looked pretty good so I picked up a couple in gold/black, chrome/blue, and chrome shad to see how they fare, only $4 a pop so worth a try. Says it comes with two #4 VMC 8650 hooks, but the back hook is definitely a #6. Swapped out the hooks for #4 Mustad short shank EWGs and upgraded the split rings, then threw it out back to see how it runs.

 

Four casts, three fish. Nothing big but it definitely passed my initial test, looking forward to throwing it on some of my better spots. It looks great in the water.

I really don’t like crocs but they are indisputably the best footwear to wear in a pedal kayak. There is seriously just no contest. I tried to find a way that they aren’t appropriate but can’t.
